JTWC just issued advisory #9 for Heta...

Currently: 9.4S 173.9W; Moving WNW (195°) at 9mph; Winds are 70G85MPH

04/00Z 12.0S 173.8W; 85G105MPH (Cat 1)
04/12Z 13.3S 173.5W; 105G125MPH (Cat 2)
05/00Z 14.8S 172.6W; 120G150MPH (Cat 3)
06/00Z 19.2S 169.0W; 110G130MPH (Cat 2)

TC 07P (Heta) is located 290nm NNW of Apia, Western Samoa. Heta has been tracking SSW-ward at 9mph. Recent multispectral satellite imagery depicts deep convection cycling over a well-defined low level circulation center with the strongest surface winds residing in the northern quadrants enhanced by the equatorial westerlies.

...A HIGH SURF ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT TONIGHT FOR ALL NORTH AND NORTHWEST FACING SHORES OF ALL ISLANDS...

...PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
ALL RESIDENTS OF AMERICAN SAMOA SHOULD START PREPARING FOR STRONG WINDS AND HIGH SURF ALONG THE NORTH AND NORTHWEST SHORES...

...TROPICAL CYCLONE HETA WAS LOCATED NEAR 9.4 SOUTH 173.9 WEST OR 350 MILES NORTHWEST OF PAGO PAGO AT 1 PM FRI JAN 2 2004. TROPICAL CYCLONE HETA CONTINUES TO INTENSIFY AND IS NEARLY STATIONARY AND WILL MOVE SOUTH SLOWLY. IF CONTINUED TO MOVE ON THIS TRACK IT WILL BE ABOUT 160 MILES WEST OF PAGO PAGO AT 8 AM SUNDAY 2004 AND WILL BE AT 14.8 SOUTH 172.6 WEST.
