Colin is an enthusiastic poster. He is also 13 or 14. I was the same way at his age when it came to snow. Granted it was long before bulletin boards and the GFS was something out of science fiction.

Colin the last storm was three weeks ago and has no bering on future events. To say that a past storm bust portends to the next is just foolish. One thing is for sure. This weeks cold snap is going to go to waste in terms that there is no storm to take advantage of it. You posted a week of so ago that winter is over. I say take a chill pill and relax. You have at least two months of potential yet to come.

It seems like Colin was backdooring the...

How much for Philly. Colin is a smart kid. I thought he was a troll because he used a very good vocab for a kid who was twelve. Rather then state...How Much For Philly...He said.." I don't think much, what do you think"

If you are going to claim winter is over, you are surely not going to get psyched up about a possible winter storm for next week. This storm may or may not happen, but the potential looks pretty good at this point.

a Postive PNA and strong NEG NAO with cold air in place is a terrible setup for a storm.

its a great pattern if you like SEVERE cold in the eastern part of the country...given the amplitude of the eastern US trough and the type of cold consistent with that kind of pattern.

and remember though its esscentially the connection between the neg NAO; the 50/50 low (which can send the NAO negative and or enhance the strength of the -NAO by sharpening the wavelengths in the PJ across the NW ATL) and PV that has the final say in regard to IF and HOW a major east coast snow event will develop...and what portions of the EUS it will effect the most. but even this is NOT a sure guarantee that a major event is going to occur.

so IOW its MUCH more important to pay close attention to the complete synoptic set-up as compared to just a few features.

That's pretty much what I said on another thread. Late this weekend into early next week Washington DC will be in the mid 40s with a great chance of light rain by Monday.

It's starting to look like something will happend on Tuesday for the east, but it's still too far away to know exactly what will happend.

The reason for the warmer temps on Monday is due to being on the wrong side of a low preasure. As Tuesday rolls in the temps should drop dramatically with snow in the east. But that's what the GFS is saying and that's what, 7,8 days out.
