Fifty Below in parts of Montana last night

Some of these were record lows (*), and some weren't. These are minimum temperatures for some selected cities.

Ulm, MT: -46F
Fort Logan, MT: -49F
White Sulfur, MT: -40F
Rogers Pass, MT: -37F*
West Yellowstone, MT: -43F*
Townsend, MT: -31F* (old record was -19F)
Libby, MT: -42F
Polebridge, MT: -45F*
Butte, MT: -35F


"THE HIGH TEMPERATURE OF -15 AT HELENA IS THE COLDEST MAXIMUM
TEMPERATURE SINCE FEBRUARY 2 1996. ON THAT DATE THE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 16 BELOW ZERO AND THE LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 42 BELOW"

And some people say we don't any arctic air to speak of...

Siberia can get much colder. And yes, there are people that live there.

Oh yes, and the high yesterday in Baker Lake, Canada (Nunavut) was a balmy -39F

The high of -39 in Baker Lake is perfectly fine with me :) :) :) :) Wouldn't mind a nice cooling breeze there of, say, 18 mph........

Yup Baker Lake is right fine weather :)


The overnight lows in Montana are certainly respectable.

Okay folks, this IS an arctic air mass :) :) You've sold me on that :) :)
