BUSH'S PLAN TO LEGALIZE ILLEGALS
Tomorrow President Bush is going to propose what amounts to yet another amnesty for criminals in this country. The criminals are illegal aliens. They broke our laws to get here, and they break our laws working and staying here. Bush is also going to allow illegals who provided false Social Security numbers to employers to collect any benefits they may have coming.
It's political. Forget this "matching willing workers with willing employers" nonsense. It's political. In some areas of the country you can't even suggest that illegal aliens be arrested and returned, or denied government benefits, without creating howls of outrage and strong reprisals. It seems that every time we approach an election politicians start talking about "adjusting" the status of these illegals. It's all about votes.
And speaking of votes, my friends. Did you know that there are many areas in this country where non-citizens can vote? It all started with local school board elections. Apologists for the non-citizens will argue "they're sending their children to our public schools, they should have a right to vote in school board elections." Next will be "well, they're working here and paying taxes, so they should have a right to vote in local elections." The final move will be "hey, they're paying income taxes. They're contributing to our economy. They should have a right to vote in federal elections."
We're moving to a point where American citizenship is going to mean nothing. You want to come here to work? Fine! If you decide you don't want to follow our laws, rules and procedures for immigration ... no problem! Just sneak in, behave yourself until the next presidential election, and we'll arrange for some variety of amnesty for you. Mind your Ps and Qs for a while longer and you'll be voting!
Mexican President Vicente Fox loves the idea. Illegal immigration to the United States is one of Mexico's largest industries. Mexican nationals working illegally in the US send billions of dollars back to relatives in Mexico. These billions fuel a huge part of the Mexican economy. All of these Mexican nationals fleeing to the United States also relieves Fox and his government of the responsibility of reforming their own economy so as to provide the needed jobs at home.

i feel dean's supporters are very enthusiastic and motivated. on the other hand, policies like these make some conservatives like me luke warm towards bush. not just this. spending is out of control. i give bush an a+ on the war on terrorism, but i am very concerned about many of his other policies. i think he is very wrong if he thinks this will get more hispanics to vote for him.
the bottom line is he needs to give conservatives a reason to get out and vote for him. whats wrong with deporting illegals? when this policy is put into effect, the 10 million illegals in the country now will seem like chicken feed.

Interesting point... I don't think it will cause Bush to lose the election though.

The far left isn't the issue just like the far right because they will always support their parties choices. Elections are won and lost by convincing the average American. With the war on terrorism progressing and the economy turning around rather dramatically it will be very hard for a Democratic candidate to take Bush this year. IMO the biggest threat would be Lieberman. He is one of the most conservative of the Dems and is fairly well respected across the board. Dean is the best of the Dem candidates from the Republican point of view. He makes such a habit of putting his foot in his mouth and add to that he is fragmenting the Democratic [arty should make Bush's job that much easier lol

Confederate Flags and Pickup Trucks
Over the last few years, there has been a huge battle over the Confederate flag. The Democratic and the black leadership claim that the Confederate flag is a symbol of racism, bigotry, segregation and violence against blacks.
Now, I can't argue against that and I know that if I were black that I would probably find it pretty damned offensive if my state capitol had it flying over the capitol building.
Recently, Howard Dean said that he wanted to court the voters who had the confederate flag in the back of their pickup truck. Later, he clarified and apologized for the comment saying that it was a term that he was using to describe poor, white voters in the south who vote Republican.
And, with that clarification, he essentially called all of the poor southern whites, racists, if he thinks of the confederate flag as a symbol of racism.
Also, with that statement, he said that he wants to court the votes of the people that he thinks of as racists. How do you do that, with a lynching?
Frankly, I find what he said to be far more offensive than anything that Trent Lott said when he was attacked as a racist for his comments at Strom Thurmonds retirement. And, what I want to know is why more people aren't standing up and demanding that he step out of the presidential race?
Why aren't the so-called black leaders up in arms? He basically said that he wants people who he believes are racists to vote for him. And he intends on courting their vote.
Why isn't the Democratic party, as a whole, up in arms over his comments like they were about Trent Lott? Lott never said that he wanted racists to vote for him. Lott never made a broad based statement about an entire group of people.
And finally, why isn't anyone calling him a racist or bigot? Granted, he wasn't making a statement against a minority group, but he was making a broad and sweeping statements about a certain group of white folks.
Or, is that the answer? Is it all right for a Democrat to make a sweeping statement that is inflammatorily and bigoted against certain white folks?
Now, I really didn't find what he said to be that offensive. Stupid, yes. Offensive, no. But it does give a prime example of the hypocrisy of both the Democratic party and the black leadership. After all, you would think that they would both stand up against any and all sort of bigotry or racism - they are against it, aren't they?
------------------------------------------------------------
Dean will more than likely get the Democratic nomination and if that happens it will be a major blow to the Dem Party. He is going to shame that Party. And yes, Bush will win by a landslide. You can bet on that, especially with the likes of Dean as his opponent.

The only he can do that is if he can pull out wins in places like Oklahoma, South Carolina, etc. in the south.

I couldn't agree more with you mf about Lieberman. If I was ever inclined to vote for a (gasp) Democrat, he would be my choice.

I think almost anyone on the ticket would be more of a threat to winning swing voters than Dean, but you never know. Dean isn't as liberal as people would believe on SOME issues.

I personally don't like Dean and don't want to be the nominee, but he does have a loyal following.

since you did say SOME issues, I won't say you are totally wrong...but here is Dean's far left Liberal philosophy (3 biggies):
1. Anti War - PERIOD
2. Repeal of Tax cuts = tax increases (for everybody)
3. Pro Abortion - quote - "Today marks a dark day for American women, who are seeing their reproductive freedoms restricted by a President acting in concert with a right wing congress" <--- Dean's comments after Bush signed the "Partial Birth Abortion Bill".
