Miss Mary
I'm so happy for these soldiers and their families. Latest word my family has for my nephew, with the 101st also, is he will depart Kuwait Feb. 3rd. And come home to Ft. Campbell. But his wife warns us all not to get our hopes up b/c that's not a confirmed date, nothing ever is with the Army. But it's less than 30 days now......so that's what I'm holding onto! He's been over there since last Feb., except for his brief 15 day leave in November, which he and all of us were extremely grateful for. I have a link for a local newspaper there in Clarksville - the entire town is eagerly awaiting all of the soldiers' return. Warms my heart to read articles like this!

Thanks Johnathan! Here's the link for that local newspaper if anyone wants to bookmark it.

His wife has encouraged any of us who can, to come to Clarksville when he comes home. I'd love to be there but not sure I can get away. I do know he'll travel up to Cincinnati again. I will just rest easy knowing he's on US soil again. That knot I've had in my stomach will finally go away! You just don't know how worried I've been for him. You see he's my niece's husband, and before this, we didn't know him very well at all. I began writing to him last March and sending 2 or 3 packages a month. My girls have written to him too. About 3 or 4 months ago, I just told him - Kris you are my nephew now, you are not an in-law anymore!

If I could get away, I'd organize a demonstration of support outside of the 101 AB gate in Hopkinsville, KY...probably across the street in the "US Cavalry" store parking lot! (Been on that base twice; once back in '70 for training, then again in '90 during a WW II "tactical scenario battle".)
