I'm Waiting For It
It's COLD here in NJ, my high was 28 with a low of 17 this morning. I am hearing that we in the East are going into a very cold and snowy period. I can't wait, they even say that it is going to be a very cold and very snowy February. All sounds very good. Can anyone expand on the potentile snowstorm for next week?

I am no expert, but I hear that there may be another cold blast coming next week that might be even colder than this one we are enjoying now. There is a storm that is supposed to form late next week and it may be possibly a big storm for the East.

I REALLY do hope it verifies, Chris!!! Because if I get to conduct a rare jebwalk with highs in only the teens or even upper single numbers here in Woodbridge, all I'm gonna be able to say is a resounding
WOOOOOOOOO---HOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully this area con share in on some of that snow. Yes i know and understand what the models are saying but seems if storms have a even slight chance of missing here they will especially as of late. Take todays event for example was looking to get atleast a couple of inches a few days ago and now all it looks like im gonna get is some flurries. Yea i like the cold but as well i wanna see some snowstorm action with it as well. And by no means am i giving up on it just in a temporary slump right now is all. Hopefully we can all share in it!!!!!Which i do believe will happen its just a matter of when!!!!

As I said before I am willing to give up any snow here in N VA so that NC can get more. If getting shorted on flurries and light snow will help NC get 8 inches, then I'll gladly take the clouds I already have and the nice bracing cool temps we have now. What we have right now sure beats that 74 degree heatwave we just endured!

Colin, I would like to see a ( Widespread 18"+ starting from DC to Kennebunk, Maine)

We haven't had temps like that around here for a long time! Incredible! It would sure be ashame to have all of this cold air and no snow!

I love snow and serious cold!!! There's nothing quite like a fierce major cold wave and deep snow and a beautiful jebwalk in the snow, amidst all the blowing and drifting snow!!!!!!!
Ah, the joys of winter!

I dont think it will be wasted at all steph...im taking a very distinct interest in a ***POTENTIAL SECS*** for the middle to later half of this coming week (GFS and UKMET were quite bullish on it however the ETA and GGEM were less impressive)...to what extent...im not sure right now but its something that bares quite a bit of watching over the next several days. ill avoid the specifics for now until my confidence increases.

I've been keeping up with what you, Don, KOW and everyone else has been saying about next week's potential storm. I am pretty excited about the 12z & 18z GFS.
Perhaps the GFS was on to something all along, but just didn't know when? It's just a few days off from the first time we saw the potential for a snowstorm for the 12th - 14th. You know, right church, wrong pew?
Jeb - I'm sorry, but that's TOO COLD for me! I remember walking around college in the early 80's when we had cold snaps like that. I wore my brother's big winter coat - a snorkle - one that had the hood that pulled all the way out in front of your face. It was brutal!!!

the GFS 12z and 18z operational runs had support from the UKMET...though the EC and GGEM hinted at the event...they were far less impressive.

If the GFS, verifies, that will be brutal cold. With snowcover, which I believe will be likely at that time, NYC might have a real possibility of seeing its first subzero minimum temperature since 1994. Saturday morning's likely single-digit lows could well be an appetizer for what lies ahead.
I like that the GFS is beginning to sense the possibility of storms at this point. I'm less concerned with details right now but the GFS is beginning to suggest that some of the things we've been discussing in past days look to be in the running.
