Southeastern Snow and Ice

A storm system moving through the southeast United States will bring snow, ice and rain Friday. Snow across eastern and southern West Virginia, eastern Kentucky, northeastern Tennessee, northern North Carolina and Virginia will accumulate 1-3 inches Friday. Roads will be snow covered and icy in spots. Farther south an icy mixture of freezing rain, sleet, or rain changing to sleet and snow will be found across southeastern Tennessee, northern Georgia into western South Carolina and southwestern North Carolina Friday. Rain will change to snow Friday night across southeastern North Carolina, and roads may become icy in spots overnight.

Snow near the Great Lakes across southwestern New York, northern Ohio, southeastern and northeastern lower Michigan, eastern upper Michigan, northwestern Indiana, northeastern Illinois and southeastern Wisconsin Friday will accumulate 1-3 inches.

Lingering snow and ice problems will continue to plague the Pacific Northwest. An icy mix of snow and freezing rain in the Washington Cascades across north-central into northeastern Washington and northernmost Idaho Friday will make travel hazardous.
