seeing Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom on AMC Movie Classics! granted, the movie is a "classic" but Harrison Ford is still ALIVE!!! p

LOL... I felt old the other day when I mentioned Fraggle Rock and a couple of people at the high school I was at were like "Huh?". Also... not as many people know about Sesame Street. It was an institution when I was young, along with ALF.

You feel old? I remember, hate to admit this, when certain shows went from black and white to color. Uh huh, I'm that old! Turning 48 soon......I remember when there'd be a new UHF channel and my friends and I are were so excited. The cable/satellite generation would not relate to that type of excitement! My daughter has toyed with the idea of asking for a small tv for her bedroom (Bday or xmas presents) but since she doesn't have cable access in her room, she figures why watch just a handful of channels when she can easily watch 40 plus cable channels in the family room! LOL

Anyone remember a cult classic, HR Pufnstuf? I was a teen then but I was crazy about Jack Wild (teen heart throb at the time), so I watched. What a wacky show that was!!!

Can you say old - let me tell you - I was raised on America sitcoms and most of them I can remember watching - but remember we had only one TV in the house and my dad was the one who decided what we watched. Another thing - us kids were his remote control - LOL - I remember standing at the TV and turning the channel and he decided if he wanted to watch that show or surf some more. My dad is 74 right now - and he goes through remote controls at least twice year.

I guess my favorites were the cartoons - I remember SpeedRacer, Flinestones and of coures Batman & Robin.

Oh well being 40 - makes me wiser huh?

Ticka - I was my dad's remote control too!!! I recall having to watch Lawrence Welk with him. Ugh - fine show, but just not my thing! I'd wander away and play my stereo eventually.

I was so into many sitcoms back then. My fave from that time period is My Three Sons. My very favorite family drama will always be the Waltons.

Now I'm missing that innocent phase of TV.

WE also served as Mom and Dad's "remote controls"; the first TV set we had was equipped with a 12" diagonal screen and a HUGE wooden box frame with one big speaker underneath...I think it was a Muntz TV set.

I also remember the first time we had an "independent" station...KPLR 11 in St. Louis, which came in weak at first, but soon made up for that with "Wrestling at the Chase" (Chase-Park Plaza Hotel) and "Sons of Hercules" B-flicks. Then, we found ourselves shocked and amazed at the first UHF channel, KDNL 30, just after TV broke the "color" barrier (before that, everything was in glorious black-and-white).

The first cable channel I saw was a Canadian channel broadcasting to North Dakota, and very simply (it showed only scrolling farm, news and weather reports on colored backgrounds)...a few years later, HBO, Showtime, Cinemax and The Movie Channel made their debuts.

Ah, the memories... :wink:

I remember when all we had was black and white and only 3 channels to choose from in P'cola!! We got our first color TV in 1965!!

You guys are all still YOUNGSTERS!!!

lol David! I remember those terrible TV arials and antennas....not to mention the hard dials where you HAD to use a pair of pliers to turn the damn thing! lol
