every one recalls one of those seasons right? well this will be the 3rd one and after going out on a limb with 79-80 to see a southern snow pattern set up and still get screwed... will be the Ultimate in fun

I can see last year, but 2001-2002 everyone got screwed, so it wasn't a "snow donught" around C VA. I bet your luck will change this year if there is another major event for the mid-Atlantic.

Challenging Pattern....

DT, Let me add here in LYH, while we did manage 33 inches of snow last winter..it was nickles and dimes, no dollars. The last 12+ snow here was 1996 while RDU has seen 2 since. That has NEVER happened.

DT,what are the chances (in your opinion) that the weekend storm makes it up the coast...i wont hold you to it or curse you out if it does or doesnt come up the coast.im just interested in your opinion.

That isnt completely accurate...NC did fairly well in 01-02. There was a good snowstorm just after new years which dumped 4-12" across much of the state.

That isnt completely accurate...NC did fairly well in 01-02. There was a good snowstorm just after new years which dumped 4-12" across much of the state.

Ah yeah, and that damn storm dry slotted me after the heavy sleet and snow that fell for several hours, and the 850mb temperatures warmed just enough to give this area an icestorm ... (worse back inland, here, about a ¼" of ice accretions, after 1-2" of very heavy sleet/snow.

You got NOTHING in JAN 2000? Holy crap, I got 2" of snow/sleet/slush that night that RAH got 16.3" in 4 HOURS ... and 21". A little s/w produced a localized 1"-3" snowfall the next night in Charleston, Dorchester, and Berkeley Counties ... first time ever for Charleston to have back to back measurable snows from 2 different systems. I picked up 3" of snow in just a few hours.

You make me feel fortunate for getting my 2" from that storm LOL.
