Britney: Blame it on Vegas

Britney Spears says the excitement of Las Vegas is partly to blame for her recent 55-hour marriage to her childhood friend, Jason Alexander.

"I do believe in the sanctity of marriage, I totally do," Spears told MTV's "Total Request Live" in a telephone interview Wednesday. "[But] I was in Vegas, and it took over me."

Spears and Alexander, both 22, married at a 24-hour chapel early in the morning on Jan. 3. The wedding was annulled a little over two days later, but not before it made headlines around the world.

The pop superstar says she can't understand the fuss.

"We landed on Mars that day -- why aren't they talking about that?" she asked, referring to the Mars Rover launched by NASA.

Spears said she and Alexander "hit it off completely," but when asked whether she had true feelings for him, she declined to answer.

"That's a personal question," she said, before changing the subject to promote her new video, "Toxic."

Me too...and I see what you see and thought the same thing at first glance...weeks ago when this was still a big deal.

But if you watch carefully (if you can see the video it helps), you can tell that what looks like tongue in the picture is just the inside of Britney's lower cheek as she opens her mouth. It's a combination of the camera angle and the shimmer of the light against the left side cheek. Besides, if you don't have the benefit of the video and you really did think that was Britney's tongue, it only looks like she's licking Madonna's chin. It's too low to be going towards Madonna's mouth.

It was a stupid publicity move, it was gross (come on, who really wants to kiss Madonna????), and it was dumb to do the open-mouth bit...but I still say there was no tongue. I never saw it (and trust me, it's not like I didn't look).

Sorry Duck but thats Britneys tounge in Madonna's mouth. Seen the pic myself. And sorry that shouldnt have been broadcasted on tv either. They both should be ashamed at themselves for that knowing so many of the younger ones look up to them. And dont start on me about the gay issue because i do have a brother who is gay and he dont pull that and wouldnt either in such a public display and especially in front of kids. I have nothing against gays for obvious reasons but that shouldnt be shown to our kids.

Not gonna start. I know it has nothing to do with the gay issue. They aren't gay. And I agree about the exposure that children get to things like that needs to be limited.

Someone's gonna have to send me a copy of the pic where they think they're seeing it. Like I said, I've watched the video and seen the pics with the benefit of my digital satellite recording playing it back frame by frame with a handful of others trying to figure it out.

Until someone can prove otherwise, I have not seen it.

I just hope Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen continue to keep their feet firmly planted on the ground. Last I heard, on their 17th birthdays, they were estimated to be worth $150,000,000 each and predicted to be billionaires by age 21. They were the youngest self-made millionaires in American history (before age 10). The scary part is that they're ranked number 61 in FHM magazine's "100 Sexiest Women of 2003" poll. They're only 17!

They should be targeting Brit's audience and making more of a positive influence on them.

I think....(I Hope!!) the Olsen twins will stay grounded, they seem so positive, even though there are a handful of men out there just waiting for them to turn 18... They do put out a positive influence, my little cousin loves them!! As for Britney.... what can I say that hasn't already been said?

And again, I'll say, they ain't gay. They're just a couple of horrible singers, one who just happens to have looks on her side, who feel they can appeal to a wider audience with their antics. But, in fact, they probably lose more fans than they gain.

I don't go for public displays either. I'm too shy for that.
