Lawrence Weather
An amazing occurence in Lawrence the past two days-we have actually had rain off and on for two days!!! It has been since Sept. that we have had two days of rain back to back!!! Man do we need it-it aint snow temps. are in the upper 40's, but I'll take any moisture we can get!!! GFS (I know, I know) is hinting at some winter weather for us next weekend-I know I can't trust it, but our weather has been so boring (besides about 4 days) that I need to dream about something!!! Have a great day!! My trees may live now!!!

Just had to add one more thing-it is really to bad temps. aren't about 10-12 degress colder-we'd have a bonafide snow event here!! We finally have a great mositure plume over us-has been quite a while-this was a classic set up for this area to get a great snow fall or serious ice storm, but no cold air!! oh well-you know its a boring winter when a snow lover gets excited for rain and even clouds!!! Have a great day!!

It is crazy that I keep posting to myself, but thought I would add about our weather for the next week-10 days especially since there is discussion about cold air reaching Texas next weekend-our NWS AFD calls for cool temps. for Monday-Wed., then they call for it to moderate and get back to the 40's by Friday-split flow will devleop again, leaving us dry for the next 7-10 days-our local mets do not see any true artic air for the next 10 days. Doesn't look that wintery for the central plains any time soon!! Oh well, I hope Feb. brings at least one good snow!!

it's raining here today, after today it appears as if though it will be seasonable if not a little colder than seasonable for about five days. cold but dry however, that seems to be the pattern this winter when the moisture gets here it's too warm to be frozen precip. im not holding out much hope for a major snow event here anytime soon. long way to go however to totally write off winter yet.

The cold air just can't seem to hold on for very long!! We will have about 2-3 days of chilly weather 30's then its back to the 40's!! The gfs does have some hope day 9-10 for my area-the cold air is here the same time as the precip and appears there is quite a cold blast comming down about 11-12 days. But of course, this is the GFS and you can't trust it, but one can always look and say ahhhhh!!!! It is too early to write off this winter, but the split flow is our enemy!! we have had this problem for almost two years-thus our serious drought conditions. Our mets here and the NWS are not real conf. about any winter weather for at least the next 2 weeks -hopefully the GFS is right and they are wrong!! Good luck-we will have a wintery patter some time in the next few years-like I've said before-there have been winters in my area in the 1840s where it never even frosted!!! I can't imagine what the media would say if that happened today!!!! have a great day!!

I agree-we have been so dry that any moisture is good-we could really use about 4-6 weeks of this kind of mositure!! It was cold that Monday and Tuesday, but then it was gone and last Sunday was so warm-I got so mad at our mets saying how nice it was going to be for the Chiefs game-I was like-hey we want it cold cold cold-well it was warm and guess what happened??!!! I would love to see a good old bonified cold snap that lasts about a week or two-it has been since December of 2000 since we really had a good one!! Little too close comfort on Wed. night for the Hawks-we play like that today, we're beat!! Have a great day!!

Yea-it looks like we have had our moisture for the next two months!! NWS discussion is quite depressing-warming back up by weeks end with no storm in sight-the GFS does something day 10 and the EURO is hinting at a cross polar flow comming south instead of all east, but I haven't heard any real discussion about it-well, back to our drought that has been slightly dented but still in progress. Hawks won, but man they looked ugly-we just aren't very good yet-I hate to see us when we play someone really tough (MU, TU, or OSU!!!)
mrfreeze: I thought MU might win that today-OU is really hurting without Bookout and you guys are really too good to keep strugg. like you have been-oh well, the border war will recommence in a couple of weeks!!! Lets hope by then we have seen that cross polar flow come south and not so much to the east coast!! Of course, it may go south and east which would hit you and miss us entirely!! Have a great night!!

We'll have to play a heck of lot better-but I agree-we have the ability to be a elite 8 or final four team!! Don't look at the NWS AFD-chilly for three days then back to the 50's for next weekend-while the EURO and GFS hint at something for next week, it still seems to me they pull most of the cold air east again!! We shall see-hopefully Feb. will be our turn and we can get rid of this split flow and have a storm plow out of the 4 corners and head across North Oklahoma-while we have some cold air in place!!

Hey-winter has returned to Lawrence: we are supposed to drop into the single digits the next two nights!!!! There might not be snow, but at least it feels like winter!!! This cold snap (funny, I'm supposed to use that word in the spring and fall!!!) will last untill wednesday when we start our weekly climb back into the 50's by Sunday. Hopefully the GFS and EURO will hold onto the possible storminess they have for us next week, but I'm really afraid to look and watch it turn into party cloudy and 45 degrees!!!! NWS and local mets are not impressed by next week-dry and warm after these next few days-sorry to shove this back up top, but it is kind of nice to at least feel like jan. for a few days and had to share my joy!!! Have a great night!!!

It was great running this morning-temps. in the teens-that clear cold air-beats the heck out of summer runs when it is 85 by 7:00 A.M. with 80% humidity!!! Give me two below over hot and humid any day!!! I plan on enjoying this cold-seems it will be my last for the next week to 10 days-models seem to pump warm air over me even past this weekend and that is the guidance our mets and NWS is following-I thought it was going to get cold again around next Monday, but now it seems the models are backing off-the GFS has in the 40's and 50's through Tuesday of next week. Winter still in hybernation here in Central America accept for the brief times to get a snack-then back to sleep!!!! Have a great day!!!

Sorry to shove this back up to the top, but I'm getting excited here-although winter just came by and had a snack Monday and Tuesday, it sounds like he may come for dinner and even spend the night next week!! (Although he will be at another friends house this weekend with temps close to 50!!!) Local mets have warned to enjoy the weekend and get the snow shovels ready for next week!!! maybe the models will verify from late last week!! Time will tell!!! Have a great day!!

Thanks!! I'm not trying to shove this on anybody, but I am pretty excited about the possibilities of next week-the ducks really seem to be landing on the pond so to speak!!! Also, if we have a true Artic push here, chances are that Texas and points south will get in on it as well!! It has been a good 2-4 years since we really had a stretch of significant winter weather and this is setting up to be it. Time well tell. Currently, the Clipper has moved through here and we have a pretty brisk North Wind with temps in the upper 20's to lower 30's (my run was awsome!!! again better cold than August heat!!)-will quickly warm up this weekend and then if all goes as progged, all breaks loose beginning Sunday night!! Have a great day!!!

One last quick deal: The NWS out of Topeka doesn't seem quite so bullish on the snow-maybe light snow Monday-also, seem to make not a big deal out of Artic front on Sunday night-keeping temps in the 20's for highs-for this winter, that is cold but not as cold as it could be!!! Seems like the real big mother lode may come mid next week-am I reading things correctly?? We had a pattern similar to this in December 1988 (I was in college here) and we had several Artic blasts over a two week span with the last one being the biggest-temps went to minus 24 and stayed there for about 2days!!! Of course, as I get bored with teaching about Napoleon et al, I'll keep you updated on the progression-I'm sure you just can't wait!!!!
LOL See ya!!
