NWS Houston mentions threat of winter precip
AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX
320 PM CST SAT JAN 17 2004
.DISCUSSION...
STORMS/CLOUDS FINALLY MOVING OFF TO THE E/NE THIS AFTN ALONG WITH
THE ASSOCIATED S/W. WHILE LOW-LEVEL WINDS HAVE TURNED TO THE W/SW
AND THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE MUCH BY WAY OF BOUNDARIES AND AD-
DITIONAL SPEED MAXS DOWNSTREAM...NOT RULING OUT POPS ENTIRELY FOR
THE REMAINDER OF THE LATE AFTN/EARLY EVENING HOURS. HEATING ALONG
WITH THE INCOMING FRONT COULD PRODUCE A STORM OR TWO. WILL CONTIN-
UE WITH 20-30 POPS. CLOUDS/POPS TO RETURN (AS IF THEY EVER REALLY
LEFT!!) OVERNIGHT IN THE COLD POST-FRONTAL REGIME. WHILE THE CORE
OF THE LOW DOES APPEAR TO MOVE RIGHT ACROSS THE CWA...NOT SURE IF
THE LOWER/MID LEVELS WILL BE COLD ENOUGH TO SUSTAIN/PRODUCE FREE-
ZING PCPN FOR THE NRN ZONES SUNDAY NIGHT. A FLATT-ISH UPPER RIDGE
BUILDING IN BEHIND THE APPROACHING TROF SHOULD GIVE WAY TO A MORE
SUSTAINED DRYING/CLOUD LESS ENVIRONMENT FOR THE BEGINNING PART OF
NEXT WEEK. HOWEVER THIS COMES TO AN END BY MID WEEK WITH THE WIND
UP OF THE NEXT UPPER TROF AT/AROUND THE CALIFORNIA BAJA. MID/HIGH
CLOUDS AND LOW POPS (IN ASSOCIATION WITH S/W ENERGY EJECTING FROM
THE DEEPENING SYSTEM) PROGGED FOR THE REST OF THE UPCOMING WEEK.
41/45
They don't seem to be too excited about the chances but hey it's something to look forward to. I would not rule out some flurries Sunday night around here.

Where are all the snow geese??
By the way accuweather is showing a low of 26 for me Monday night which is about 10 degrees colder than the low forecasted a few days ago. This happened with the last cold front, low temp forecasts dropped right up until the front came through. Now if we can just get some moisture thrown in here monday night we'd be ready to roll

We.re outside in our speedos takin' a sun bath!!! Sun is out and it is 73º!! Gotta work on that tan when ever ya get a chance ya know.
That says Northern zones which is about 100 miles N of us here. We can only hope and honk and pray that the wrap around somehow makes down to Houston with enough cold in place for winter precip.

Well its colder here on the East side - down to 51 degrees. Very overcast. I don't think we have to worry about any frozen precip - it ain't gonna happen. As for any artic blast - I guess its a wait and see game. I hope not. My propane heater went out in the main part of the house and don't have the fund to replace it right now - over $300 to get a new one.

Well it didn't happen. I live up in Conroe and when the rap around moisture came through, it was 39 degrees out (conroe). Just a very very cold rain. It looks like Wednesdays potential isn't there for us here in Southeast, Texas and it might be out the window for the folks up towards Dallas. It will be a pretty chilly week for most of us and Tuesday morning will be very cold with ideal conditions for radiational cooling. This weekend and into next week look pretty nasty.
