#1 Postby Dj3 » Mon Jan 19, 2004 5:46 pm

I was wondering if there are any storms coming in the next week or so that could significantly effect the ohio valley/mid atlantic.

Perhaps you need to read the other discussions going around Colin. Unless you are referring to this week. Then i do agree but come the weekend and into next week EXPECT a pattern change which will give the areas you just said wouldnt be affected to be affect more so atleast the chance are alot greater then they have been all winter. Which i for one cant wait for!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the input though.

36 inches, do you think that we will see a winter event like that this winter, realistically.

I hope we do. If it was cold enough and the storm had a qpf of 2.0, I bet we could see 36 inches.

Keep praying for 36 inches of snow!!! :)

That would be tough to get........................... We would need a another blizzard of 1996 storm to get 36 inches or 38 inches of snow........

Lets be realistic here...even if we do get a big blizzard, and it stalls for 5+ days, that's the only way we're going to see 3'+...otherwise the most we would probably get is 2'+, and that would probably be in the mountains.

all we need is another storm like last year, the Presidents Day Blizzard, I have heard that something like this might happen in the mid to late Feb. period. That would be good, I saw 2 feet from that storm. It was definitely the best, my dog couldn't even go out side, I had to shovel a path for her.

According to NWS, this upcoming weekend is already beginning to trend warmer.

This is why I treat all these upcoming systems with a lot of caution.

Additionally, next week for N VA is expected to be somewhat milder-----Highs in the 40s, lows in the 30s. Any s/w coming through then will be predominantly rain, tho probably snow for the SNE/NE regions.

Just wondering, do you remember the Blizzard of 1996? THAT was a true Blizzard....... I loved the 2003 blizzard.... but 1996 was

Jeb I understand your caution. The NWS here has us back in the mid 50's next week. All the NWS mets seem to be banking on a warm up, from what I've read they are counting on a ridge building in the east. I'm hoping they are wrong and all the other posters (who I respect and have a lot of faith in) are right.
