Could Next Weeks System..........

#1 Postby NCGal » Wed Jan 21, 2004 4:09 pm

Jan 29-31 be a SECS or MECS??? I have read brief discussions about it and once again TWC and Accuweather have Snow/Ice in the forecast for my area in that time frame (Raleigh,NC). What are your thoughts?? Could this be the BIG one?? Thanks in advance!!! :D

It could be a big storm, but I wouldn't count on a big snow or ice event yet. With the way the storm is forecast to track, looks more like rain.

Right now, we're still dealing with the 1st s/w down the pike and the POTENTIAL for NC/VA hit ... and with the potential for cold air damming (CAD) down the East side of the Appalachains as the models have continued to trend stronger and stronger, slowly but surely ... IF my assumptions come to fruitation, then the impact of the 1st will have significant implications for the 2nd s/w's and we're talking POTENTIAL ...

But if those systems are RAIN, if BOTH of them are RAIN, the frozen ground will set the stage for some of the most TERRIBLE FLOODING since the 1996 floods in our area. That ground is hard as iron..............NO water will soak into it. IF both storms are rain then get your ark ready. If not than get ready to go SWIMMING!!!
