When Will the Northeast See "THE BIG ONE"

#1 Postby Anonymous » Wed Jan 21, 2004 6:04 pm

I have a good 2-4 inches of snow on the ground, after a fluffy 6 and then some rain and ice on sunday it reduced my total on the ground.
Anyway, when do we see the BIG ONE, i will wait for it, but anything look good for something like 24-36 inches?

The Northeastern Corridor will see a good deal of snow in February and March.

The Mid Atlantic probably will not, not this winter. Check with me again in 2021 LOL......................

Most of the storms this winter have trended north, so it stands to reason that the Northeast will get hammered by snows in February and March. Plus, they have the climatology. They are MUCH farther north; they have the cold air; not much has to come together for them to get clobbered by snows.

In February, Climo really turns against locations farther south than about Baltimore/Philly. March is even worse.

Stop being so stingy, look west. Can't you guys take a break and shut your traps. I am sick of "will philly get this", "what will New York City end up with?", and "why isn't DC getting any huge snowstorms". I'd hate to see you guys when you only see an annual total snowfall of 4 inches. What are you going to do? Commit yourself to a crazy house?

Could you possibly try to be a little less self-seeking? When you guys get snowstorms, I think "Great! They enjoy another great snowstorm! (no sarcasm)". When West of the apps sees a great snowstorm, what do you do? Whine about where's my snow and what will I get from this?

Sorry guys, but it just gets me so aggravated.

You tell em Indy! I finally had to break away from wwbb tonite the MA and NE weenies have over taken the place. There's a 100 analysis of what the weekend storm is going to do east of the apps, but no one there wants to put their 2 cents in for us west siders. That's bad enough but I pay for JB's column and he has updated 3 times tonite and not once mentioned what the effects of the weekend storm would be on the OV. All he talked about was 'feeding the snowgeese' in the midatlantic. I emailed him about this crap. I'm also cancelling my subscription. Man this sh*t gets old fast.

IndianaWx,

I'm certainly hoping that some good snow falls west of the Appalachians, as well. In the East, we've already had great snowfall (NE, anyway) and things look good for February. If a storm or storms run west of the Appalachians, that's fine with me.

I empathize with those going through a snow drought of sorts and hope that this situation will end soon.

Indianawx, I'd give anything to live up at your latitude!

You will still have good chances for snow when we are starting to cut our lawns this spring. Your climo for snow is MUCH, MUCH better than it is for us folks south of DC like myself. By mid Feb I will have totally given up any chances for snow, but you guys will still be going strong in March.

I think you will see some good snows this winter, and I think all the Midwestern snow geese will be very happy and contented! :)

But I do apologize for my whining. It IS getting old.
