Weekend Storm

#1 Postby Poconolover » Thu Jan 22, 2004 6:29 pm

Are the chances good for 6-12inches in the the philly area? Rob Gurino is saying 6 or so and then the potential for some incredible amonunts later.

more like 6-10" for the poconos. and also initially this will be a cold storm so ratios will be running in the 12 or 15:1 range to start. then decreasing to 10:1 but time things wrap up. 1000-500mb thicknesses start out between 528 and 534 dm across eastern PA and increase to around 540 by the conclusion of the event as warmer air works in.

We may get this storm folks, but what isn't being discussed here is the very real possibility that AFTER this storm, a low out west will crank in massive amounts of warm air at the sfc so that next week we may well be in for one hell of a major RAIN EVENT!!!

So, if and when we get this snow, IF WE GET IT..................remember, it will be history by Thurs or Fri next week as an unholy combo of mild air PLUS rainfall will decimate it like we haven't seen since 1996. However the NE will benefit much from the MA warm-up by next weekend.

Yup.

The other shoe just fell.

Always in the Mid Atlantic. Always exercise caution with snow.
