The Weather Channel Sunday Map

#1 Postby verycoolnin » Fri Jan 23, 2004 10:15 pm

I'm not a big fan of The Weather Channel mainly because they're wrong more times than not but I sure hope this map is accurate. They also predicted a high of 26 for Yorkcounty (where I live) on Sunday with snow changing over to sleet and freezing rain. That would be nice.

I tried to get the JPG but Storm2k doesn't accept any pics from The Weather Channel for some reason.

Yeah, would not want to be driving in rush hour in Atlanta come Monday morning! Yuck! It is just as fun up here in Omaha, and we have equipment to take care of the streets.

I was just watching The Weather Channel's weekly planner and they updated Sunday. It shows about the same precip into Va but less freezing rain into SC, which quite honestly seems right.

It has just occured to me that this system has the same qualities of an early February storm in 1996. About 3-5 days out there was just rain forecasted but gradually as the sysem moved closer the forecast became colder and Yorkcounty ended up with about 5in of snow and and 1/2in of ice. I don't remember the exact track of the system but I do remember that it ushered in brutal cold air which this storm likely will not. I doubt that we'll recieve as much precip as that one storm but I wouldn't be suprised if there were 3in of snow on the ground topped off with a 1/4in of ice by late Sunday.
