It appears that Accuweather's JB is the only one left on the "boy its gonna get ugly in Texas later this week" thread.
The GFS, while I don't rely on it much beyond 72 hrs, squashes the ridge in NW Canada. The Euro last night even looked warm.
Anybody like Stormsfury or King Of Weather have any thoughts on this?
Dang, the East Coast is getting all the "fun" this winter.

A lot of the bust on the last "promise" of Arctic air plunging southward into TX came from the errorneous depiction of a Plains Blizzard several days ago... That would have acted as a trigger to tap in, and drive the arctic air southward ...
However, with that said, the 12z GGEM DOES give some hope towards the end of the week, and into the weekend.

Thanks SF, I appreciate your input. I know you carefully examine all of the non-GFS longer range models. Great website you have as well!
I guess I shouldn't gripe as it was 75 degrees and sunny here in Austin today. But sheesh, it is winter ya know .... but you'd never know it down here.

Interesting day here too. Tornado warning in two counties immediately to our north, then a severe thunderstorm warning for our county around 10 am. Very warm and nice this afternoon.
I was hoping to see some cold and snow around the 1st of Feb, but this warm weather is nice too. Saves on the butane and I ain't gonna complain bout that.

GFS is teasing us again showing a possible significant Winter precip event along the Gulf Coast in the Feb 5-6 time frame. Unless things change substantially soon on all the models we are done for this week with any significant cool down along the Gulf Coast or in TX. I haven't taken a look at any of the other longer range models this evening because I have not had time. Hopefully I will be able to pass along what I see after a more substantial look.
