Ice Storm Watch for North GA

#1 Postby chrisGA » Sun Jan 25, 2004 10:09 pm

I can say that I havent seen many ice storm watches issued before but FFC just issued one for Newnan points north and east. Best area of >0.25 inches of ice is east of Atlanta. I am sitting at 33.5 and wonder if I will even get down to freezing for tomorrows event. BHM has even said tonite that they might issue a WWA for northeastern counties in their AL area b/c of the wedge tomorrow. This is going to be catastrphhic for the Athens area to the east and northeast. Gee the local mets were predicting a high in the mid 60's for Monday only 2 days ago

exactly chris, see my post above. as we sit here tonight, im convinced this is going to be devistating for the areas you mentioned. im now down to 29.3 and still light freezing rain and more redeveloping over the cold dome to the southwest. in other words, its NOT going to stop before the main precip redevelops tomorrow. there is a lot of ice on everything already. this is really worrying me here because in 2000 i almost had a couple of oaks fall on my house, this go around it looks worse. this is going to be a bad one.
