accuweather forecast from 1010 WINS in NYC update

#1 Postby alfoxyny » Mon Jan 26, 2004 4:32 am

1010 WINS radio in NYC just had an accuweather update(4:12 am 1/26): "snow and ice developing tuesday with the potential of least 5 " accumulation lasting into wed."( NWS Upton talks about the possibility of sleet mixing in so i assume accu is not talking about freezing rain mixing in.This was for the city proper so to the NW, N, NE one would have to assume there is a will be less sleet if any.

tomorrow morning there will be new accumulation numbers. Alot has to go right for a big storm. We should get some ice at least before all is said and done.

Once the secondary starts bombing out, thicknesses should crash and any mixed precipitation should change to all snow. My initial guess (soundings and trends) is that this should probably occur between 8 pm and 10 pm tomorrow evening for NYC perhaps even a little earlier. We will see.

do you think that we will see a foot, becasue lakewood, nj is somewhat inland and north of philadelphia. So normally when these storms come along, i follow the NYC forecasts. And thay look good.
