The majority of activity was occurring over northern Florida, southern Georgia and right along the South Carolina coast, however, as mentioned earlier, thunderstorms have indeed increased in the eastern Gulf of Mexico.

Thunderstorms developed in the western Gulf of Mexico in association with a upper level low pressure system. A surface low was located to the southeast of the upper level low.

Another area of thunderstorms developed southeast of the cluster of activity over the western Gulf of Mexico. This second area was approximately 350 miles west of Sarasota, FL.

Thunderstorms have moved southeastward from the Texas coast, into the central Gulf of Mexico ahead of a cold front. It appears that this activity will move northeastward with time... ahead of this eastward moving frontal system.

Lightning strikes have dissipated in the Gulf of Mexico, at least for now. There have been some developing storms over northern Georgia and off the Georgia coast.

Thunderstorms developed quickly today over the western Gulf of Mexico and another area has developed (at least
fairly rapidly) across northeastern and eastern Texas.

There were under 100 lightning strikes between 11:00 am EST and 1:00 pm EST.

Lightning strikes have developed across southeastern Texas, basically "filling in" between the two existing areas.

Lightning strikes were across southwestern Georgia, southeastern Alabama to the Florida panhandle into the northern Gulf of Mexico... east of New Orleans, Louisiana.

It appears thunderstorms are developing south of Louisiana/southwest of the line indicated above.
