Well...my first post in a few days. Things have gotten a bit crazy around here. But a quick over view. After getting about 4 inches of snow late this past weekend, we got around a 1/2 inch of sleet on the ground from late Sunday night to this morning. Then at around noon today...BAM! The heavens opened up with a quick burst of heavy freezing rain that lasted about 10 minutes. The next moment, it was snowing hard and has been snowing hard on and off since then. We have received around 5 inches of snow now in the Punxsy area. The roads are horrible, its snowing so hard, PennDOT can't keep up with it. I think the boro has thrown in the towel. My wife said, the last time she saw a boro truck come around was shortly before the heavy snow started. I have a feeling we might end up around 7 or 8 inches out of tonight's snow. Its a heavier and wetter snow with a temperature around 30 degrees right now. I called NWS Pittsburgh with a spotter report of 5 inches and the met I spoke to over there told me that they are watching a few more heavy bands trying to develop to our west and south west and they appear to have their sites set on Jefferson County. He said, it would not surprise him that these bands might drop another 1 to 2 inch per hour snowfall for a couple more hours tonight. If this is the case...and we have had already 5 inches of snow, wouldn't this be within the realm of a winter storm warning?? But, thats not my call to make. We are currently under a winter weather advisory for 4 to 6 inches of snow. Anyway...more later as the evening goes on.

Well..its just about over with (I think...I hope...my back cant take anymore of it) and we stand at a total of 6 inches. As I was digging out another couple of inches, the winds have begun to pick up and now its all blowing all over the place. What a mess. I just wish people would learn to slow down in this type of weather as around 7:30 or so, I was standing by the window, on the phone with my parents up in CT, when some ******** went flying down the road, hit their breaks, and ended up in a monster snow pile from the plows. He is lucky he hit the snow pile and not gone through it as there is an automobile dealership on the other side of that pile. I quickly got off of the phone with my mom, and went out to see if they were okay...and helped them dig their car out. Maybe I should have left them there for a while to think about what they did...but I decided to be the good samaritun (sp?), and helped them out. Anyway...hopefully, its done and we can maybe not get any snow for a few days. I saw a stat on TV this morning stating that Pittsburgh has seen at least a trace of snow 21 out of the first 27 days this month.

it's samaritan (and it's brakes) - yeah, I could see wanting to let them ponder the folly of their ways, but nice job helping them out - people always seem more helpful when it's snowing, which is another reason why we need more snow...
