Weather in Lawrence Kansas
Hello everybody-Just thought I'd give a quick update on the weather here-It has not reached above 20 degrees since last Sunday and the wind has been blowing from the North making it a very cold week-the coldest week we've had since December of 2000!! We have also finally reached our snow total of last year with a wopping 8 inches!! The real reason I'm posting, is that we have the chance to have our biggest single snow event since December 2000 this weekend into Monday-one met out of Kansas City is forecsating six plus inches with someone around the area getting 12 plus inches!!! The models do still have the storm with the ETA bringing it through more quickly. It looks good right now, but in this part of the country, 48 hours is an eternity-even 10 hours is an eternity. All I can do is hope!!! I still don't buy it though-reason-our drought-we have had several systems the past 3 years that would look good, only to fade away at the end, split around us, or go to the south-we shall see-currently, every thing looks good and if things continue, I would anticipate the NWS to issue WSWatches for Saturday night into Sunday!! Have a great day!!

Quick update: NWS out of Topeka has just issued a Winter Storm Watch for Saturday night into Sunday night-let the fun begin-NWS in Kansas City being a little more cautious which is ironic-ususally they pull the trigger first and then Topeka!! I still don't believe in this storm as it is still forming and has just come onto shore in the West. I know models have it, but this area has been burned so many times-in 1999, we had mets talking blizzard 6 hours before the start of the event, only to wake to sleet-all we got 3 inches of sleet. Whatever the case, it is cold-current temp. 4 degrees with a dewpoint of minus 5!! Only 300 miles south of us, temp is in the 20's!! Pretty amazing contrast of temps in the central and southern plains today!!! Have a great day!!

Thanks for the kind words!! I hope this verifies-they are still honking plenty loud about this storm-it looks good as of now, but boy can things change in a hurry-We've been burned (or soo lucky according to all the news casters!!) so many times the past 10 years that I just hope it works out!!!
