Indeed, just about every single person I chat with on IM never uses proper capitalization or punctuation and it is obvious that they aren't all unitelligent and/or their keyboard isn't in the best shape.

For the most part I capitalize the first letter of all sentences in IM conversations. In the last several days I haven't as much beings that most aren't; but even then I have been so used to it after the last five years online.
