Was I shocked or surprised to see this? Not at all, it was produced by MTV after all. Unfortunately, most of today's young stars lack the talent and imagination to perform like those that came before them. It takes shock value to get noticed - and most of them will take that recognition anyway they can get it. Janet Jackson is enormously talented, much like her infamous brother; why it's necessary to sell her soul is beyond me.
To go one step further, do you remember when half-time shows used to feature the marching bands of local schools? Young people, who had to learn what the word "teamwork" meant, and proud of their schools and communities, working year round learning precision moves to execute a drill with pride? Even though a marching band was included in the half time festivities, there wasn't much focus on the work they put together to appear at a superbowl.
The winning teams always acknowledge the "teamwork" that went into winning a game.

If you look at the seems near the shoulder, you can see that it was sewn into some sort of a shirt, wether it was once an actual flag, I cannot say. I made sure to look at it closely while he was up there, because that is one thing that irritates me to no end, when someone wears an actual flag.

As right they should! Give me a break! This is Prime Time..kids watching...and right there for all to see is Janet Jackson's very full breast...and "Oh my God...I'm so shocked you did that look".
This is exactly what is wrong with MTV, and the whole shock and awe music Industry. The sad part about all this is, nobody batted an eyelash over the simulated sex on stage prior to the ripping off of the breast cover. It's like...that's ok...the norm, no big deal.
It's called......de-sensitized, and its what we've become.

I disagree. This is the same network that was to air the Reagan movie full of lies and disrespect to our former President.
Just like you teach your children, your reputation is a factor of who you associate with. CBS chooses to associate with MTV, therefore they must assume the responsibility of their actions.

Actually my roomate figured it out. It was a sun desgigned metal piercing with a hole in it so the nipple goes through that hole, and then a pin to secure. So it was a piercing lol. Also heard they had a man streak through the field during the end of halftime! Thats why the game ran a little longer while they were trying to start the 3rd quarter or smthg

Statement by NFL Executive Vice President Joe Browne regarding the Super Bowl halftime show:
"We were extremely disappointed by elements of the MTV-produced Halftime show. They were totally inconsistent with assurances our office was given about the show. It's unlikely that MTV will produce another Super Bowl halftime."

Thanks for the link, Mary.
I read through some of it and it reminded me about CSI and ER. I read that CSI was the first prime-time program to show full-frontal nudity, but I didn't see it because it competes with my Must-See-TV.
However, I did see the episode of ER where they had their first incident. It was "Shifts Happen," when the little girl comes in with her cardiac-arresting grandmother and yells at them "Don't do that! She's DNR!"

That ER episode was on last week. I was surprised at the breasts showing. I haven't seen the CSI episode you are refering to, but I would imagine it was of someone on the autopsy table.
