I have to laugh as I remember all you folks back east in December who were just whining and whining and crying about "no winter". Comments like "I give up" and "that damn southeastern ridge" were oh so common.
From what I can tell it could be a LONG wait until spring arrives...like maybe April???? Just kidding but it sure looks like it is going to be a long long time before spring arrives. I am waiting for all the comments about "when is it EVER going to warm up and will the snow ever end?
Remember what you wished for in December....well not ALL of you did.. but for those of you that wanted winter....you got it!!
With the big ridge being forecast now for thw west coast...I am thinking spring and mid 50's next week here in Seattle IF an inversion doesn't set up.
So enjoy the winter...spring will come......eventually!

Yeah I was one of those who whined and cried for winter.............sure I got my cold weather, but the big snows go north, south, dry up overhead or change to plain rain lol. I won't be crying for spring, I'll be crying because we only got 4 inches of snow that got washed away by a whole day of plain rain after three weeks of chilly arctic weather LOL!!!
You'll NEVER hear me cry FOR spring this year.
I want winter bad, but the plain rain is on the way...............

Re: Winter in the midwest and east
It seems that some always give up too soon on winter. If one examines the posts here and elsewhere, it appears that 7-14 days after the "I give up" sentiments peak, winter comes in with a vengeance.
After one of the coldest Januaries on record, a blizzard in early December, and a huge LES event in western New York State, Winter 2003-04 has already proved memorable. February should add to the memories with abundant snowfall, especially from the northern Mid-Atlantic northward--and possibly with a blockbuster snowstorm at some point for the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast--if the current pattern unfolds as previous similar-looking patterns have done so in the past.
