Jeb:

If I ever got 24 inches of snow in one storm (we have before-March 1922 we got a 30 incher!!) I don't know what I would do-the biggest I've seen for this area was 15 and when in grad school at Mizzou in Columbia Mo., we got 22 inches(that was 1993-a great snow winter-we got like 40 inches that winter!! Then flooded all summer!!) If this area ever got over 12inches in one storm we would be shut down for a week because in this location after a storm that big, it would be brutally cold for days!!!! Still snowing-prob. 2 inches now-snow is very fine-and blowing badly!!

One last update for a while: back end of snow is now in Emporia-about 40 miles to my south-south west-we are about done here for a while-national radar looks down right meek for this area after this band moves out-most of the precip. is moving east-north east. Snow has really tapered off here-I'd guess we have about 2 inches and that prob. will be the max for this area unless things drastcally change-oh well-it is beautiful and it covered everything back in white!! Some day folks, mark my words, the big snows will not go south, east or north, or west-they will hit the Topeka, Lawrence, and Kansas City (talk about getting the short end of the stick-man KC just gets left out almost all the time!!!!) area!!!!

Yea David we kind of got the shaft again!! Like I said though, sometime we will get the big 8-10 incher-I know you got 6 or 7 this past weekend, but we will get the biggie-law of averages says so!!!! Did you get out of school Monday???? This storm went to far south-go figure-last weekend too far North this one too far South!! It is just tough to get a good big snow here!!! I guess we could be living in Kansas City-they got shafted twice with in a week!!!!

Final update from Lawrence-prob. got 2-4 inches here-hard to tell because it has blown a bit!! Not the mother lode, nor very much compared to other areas, but considering our lack of snow the past 4 winters, it is just fine and dandy!! School was cancelled today so I'm getting ready to take my son sledding on the hills of KU's campus!!! Should be a great winter's day here!! Still snowing lightly with a few bands left to go-radar from intellecast seems to show some snow building back to my south and west-may pick up another inch or so but it is pretty lite so it will be hard to pick up much more!! We have not gotten the big snows yet this winter, but we have more on the ground and more cold than we've had for 4 years so why complain!! But I'll tell ya, some day, we will get the big dog!! Have a great day!!!

Oh MY!!!!!!!! Right aftr I posted, it began to snow heavily-we had 200 yrard visibility for about 2 hours due to the snow!!! Still snowing heavily-I think we have a total of around 6 inches from last night and today!! This storm really intensified and brought more moisture into itself at the right time for us!! By the looks of the radar, could have 2-3 more hours of heavy snow as there are a few heavy bands imbedded in the precip. My son and I went sledding on the KU campus and had near white out condiditions!! This is incredible-the heaviest snow we have had in years!! I'm so excited, I can barely type!! It is nice to finally miss and get more snow than expected instead of the other way around!! I'll post some more later-Don't have a digital camera so can't post picks, but I'll tell you, everything is white and the roads are a mess!!!! Man is it awesome!!!

Still snowing to beat the band!! We have prob. an hour of heavy snow left-man it came down this morning and early afternoon!!! Radar showing snow tapering off after this band for the most part-however, again, it seems to be trying to develop a couple more bands behind it!! It doesn't matter-we have at least 6 if not 7 inches of snow on the ground from this storm-making it (no matter what the NWS says) the biggest single storm since December 2000!!! Man it was awesome!!! Thanks mother nature!! NWS said about 1-2 inches from this band-I beg to differ a bit-we have gotten 3 more inches at least since 10:00 A.M.

Sorry to clog up the works again, but still snowing heavy here-one more fairly good band to go-the back edge is now in Emporia, but the good thing is, the snow bands are not dying over us like they have with other storms!! Like I said, this is awesome!!

JCT777:

Thanks!! I'll try!! I'll just make sure not to send you any of our dry slots and warm air problems we usually have!! But currently, it is not quite done here yet-still snowing at a pretty good clip!! Let's put it this way-a good enough clip to still be adding to the accumilation we already have!!

Cool. I hate dry slots and WAA (Warm Air Advection).

Let us all know what your final snow total is. :)

Well, the snow is pretty much over for Lawrence-what a great surprise for this area-what looked to be nothing, turned into a good 6 inch snow fall-again, our biggest single event since December 2000!!! It looks awesome outside!! Kansas City will prob. get a little more than us here-looks like the snow may last another 1-2 hours for them-they are calling for close to 8 inches in KC!! Funny, we've had WSW for nothing, then get a pretty good dump and we're in an advisory!! I'm really glad I'm not a preofessional met-those guys can't win for loosing!! But they do a great job-it just makes me mad when we're in a drought and they want the sun to shine all the time and complain about rain/snow!! Total storm for Lawrence, at least at my house, 6 inches!! Fantastic!!!!

This was a great snow storm for our area!! Close to the biggest single event in quite some time!! Kansas City got the goods with Lenexa getting 9 inches!!! Biggest snow in Kansas City in a decade!! This snow will also be here for a while as temps. really don't make it above freezing untill late next week if then!!! Do I dare dream of another snow for this winter??Hopefully though for the long term, these last 3 systems are an indication that maybe our drought situation will begin to slacken this year. Have a great night!!!
