According to the Orlando Sentinel, about 10:30 p.m., officials called Steven Kansler, Carlie's stepfather, out of the crowd and took him into the house. When he emerged, he spoke briefly to Carlie's friends - many of whom began weeping, and some collapsed to the ground. A close friend of the family said investigators told him they think Carlie is dead.

I hope they hang him.

I can only imagine what those kids at her school are feeling Freaky!

I do hope that she is alive, but it doesn't sound that way, does it? :(

I hope they hang him high and that others learn their lesson. This is outrageous. I won't let my children out of my sight when we are out of the house. I live in a safe neighborhood, but you never know.

No word yet on the girl but things aren't looking too good right now. At least Florida has the death penalty and isn't afraid to use it! :-)

This just breaks my heart. :(
It doesn't look good for that poor girl but I was shocked they found Elizabeth Smart alive after 9 months, so maybe, just maybe she's alive somewhere. Of course they hadn't found her kidnappers in that case.

What ticks me off is that he had been charged with kidnapping before. What was he doing on the streets????????? :grr:

Breaking news-they have found Carlie's body. How awful. My prayers to her family and those kids at her school.

Her body was found off of I-75 behind a church.

This SOB needs to be tortured. Death is too quick and painless.

My hearts go out to her parents, family and friends.

I totally agree, Ticka. It's too bad we are in modern times, because it used to be that vigilantes would have taken his @ss out of jail and sent him to his maker. Stuff like this makes me so mad.

I agree ticka. I heard about this on my way to work this morning. Deep down I knew she was gone, but there is always that glimpse of hope. :(

Her family is in my thoughts and prayers as well.
