I-95 Winter Over (Richmond,Fredericksburg,DC,BWI)

#1 Postby Anonymous » Fri Feb 06, 2004 8:01 am

For the most part, winter is officially over for the above I-95 cities. The timing of the cold and moisture have been off most of the winter and a full blown major snowstorm will not effect these areas the rest of the winter.

Hmm... not sure where you're getting this idea from. I know HM over at WWBB is calling for a colder period for FEB 20 - MAR 10 during which time he sees the possibility of a major winter storm. I wouldn't be shocked if DCA/BWI gets shafted the rest of the winter, but I don't think there's any reason to believe it's likely to happen either.

What kind of crap is that? Foolish unfounded babble has no place here. If you really feel that way, then provide some sort of proof and/or reasoning to support such claims.

Feb 11 thru 19 is historically some of the SNOWIEST times here in Woodbridge VA.

Feb 19 1979 23 inches
Feb 11 1983 17 inches
Mar 13, 1993 Superstorm gave us 11 inches but three feet to our west.

So there!!! BEF needs to relocate to British Guiana if he is getting tired of winter lol :) No offense intended :)

Hey don't shoot me...I told you the last two storms would be mostly rain makers and that's is exactly what these cities received.

Cold doesn't always mean snowy. (See the entire winter thus far)

The cold has not timed with the STJ and it does not look like it will happen in the weeks to come.

For those that live in the I-95 section of the above cities you know several pieces must come together to produce a major snowstorm...and the models do not support this.

They may not support everything coming together for snow, but they sure do support some VERY COLD temps over at least the next 2 weeks.

Even here in the tepic southlands Jan-feb are traditionally our coldest and if we get it snowiest months with Feb usually winning out in the snow dept.

this is without a doubt the BIGGEST idiot comment i have EVER heard. and BTW, im sure you said the same thing in the 8 weeks leading up to the MAR 1993 superstorm. or in DEC/JAN 1983, leading up to the blizzard of 83.

FLguy...so you saw the 83' and 93' storm coming...doubt it!

Odds favor my prediction is right...time will tell...6 weeks to go and counting.

FYI... i was only 4 yrs old in 1983. but looking back on the pattern i most definately could have predicted BOT of them months in advance.

time will tell, your right about that, but i STRONGLY doubt you will be correct. besides, do you honestly think i share all my forecasting methods/reasoning with the general public. what you see from me on here is just the tip of a very large ice berg.

come on now BEF... no one knows whats going to happen in the next 4 weeks or so... people are just slightly disheartened because the last two storms were rain for the bigger cities... but look at the storm before that with all of the snow and ice... even though the cold air and the precip have been off with the timing... i believe at least one more event is in store for the MA

BigEyedFish,

This is a very risky proposition given historic climatology. If the earlier premature proclamations of winter's demise are of any indication, this one, too, will be swept aside by winter's realities.
