Ah, what the heck...why not?

All songs below are the work of the Piano Man!

"So I've learned to dance with a hand in my pants
I let 'em rub my neck and I write 'em a check
And they go their merry way"

~The Entertainer

"I've seen the lights go out on Broadway-
I saw the Empire State laid low."

~Miami 2017
(Eerie after 9/11 and just plain bizarre after the blackout)

"I got remote control and a color T.V.
I don't change channels so they must change me"

~Closer To The Borderline

"Oh I heard the man knew "the Bird" like the bible
You know the man could blow an educated axe
He couldn't see that Christie Lee was a woman
Who didn't need another lover
All she wanted was the sax"

~Christie Lee

"We came in spastic
Like tameless horses
We left in plastic
As numbered corpses"

~Goodnight, Saigon

"Shades of grey wherever I go
The more I find out the less that I know
Ain't no rainbows shining on me
Shades of grey are the colors I see"

~Shades Of Grey

THIS was the 70's...if you got married in the 70's, you can relate to this:

They got an apartment with deep pile carpet
And a couple of paintings from Sears
A big waterbed that they bought with the bread
They had saved for a couple of years

* Remember their names? Brenda and Eddie!

They were the "popular steadys and the King and Queen of the Prom.
Driving around with car top down and the radio on."

That’s all I heard about Brenda and Eddie
Can’t tell you more than I told you already
And here we are waving Brenda and Eddie goodbye

Brain Damage -Pink Floyd - Dark side of the moon album

The lunatic is in my head
The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade, you make the change
You re-arrange me 'til I'm sane
You lock the door
And throw away the key
There's someone in my head but it's not me

In honor of the Boys! Come out Judas!!!

"In my dream, I was drowning my sorrows
But my sorrows they'd learned to swim
Surrounding me, going down on me
Spilling over the brim
Waves of regret and waves of joy.
I reached out for the one I tried to destroy.
You, you said you'd wait till the end of the world."

And everything that I remember
As F----- up as it all may seem .. to be
I know it's me
I cannot blame this on my father
He did the best he could for me ...

It's been awhile --
Since I could hold my head up high
It's been awhile --
Since I said I'm sorry.

I just want you to know who I am."

"Captain Jack will get you high tonight,
and take you to your special island,
oh now Captain Jack will get you by tonight,
just alittle push, and you'll be smiling."

"Captain Jack" - Billy Joel

Duck - I LOVE "Saigon" and "Miami 2010". Did you see the Concert for NY after 9/11? He played that song there.

Since we are talking Mr. Billy Joel, I thought I would throw this in. I have sung it to my wife Jane on a few occasions. It says a lot about the way I feel about her.

When you touch my weary head
And you tell me ev'rything will be alright
You say use my body for your bed
And my love will keep you warm throughout the night
Well, I'll never be a stranger
And I'll never be alone
Where ever we're together that's my home

If I traveled all my life
And I never get to stop and settle down
Long as I have you by my side
There's a roof above and good walls all around
You're my castle, you're my cabin and my instant pleasure dome
I need you in my house 'cause you're my home

Your My Home

Jara - that's also a good one! I'm sure your wife loves hearing that sung to her - it's a beautiful tribute!

3 Libras - Written By A Perfect Circle

threw you the obvious and you flew
with it on your back, a name in your recollection,
thrown down among a million same.
difficult not to feel a little bit disappointed
and passed over
when i've looked right through
to see you naked and oblivious
and you don't see me.

but i threw you the obvious
just to see if there's more behind the eyes
of a fallen angel,
the eyes of a tragedy.
here i am expecting just a little bit
too much from the wounded.
but i see through it all
and see you.

so i threw you the obvious
to see what occurs behind the eyes of a fallen angel,
eyes of a tragedy.
oh well. apparently nothing.
you don't see me.
you don't see me at all.

And One more ...

Tool - "Schism"

I know the pieces fit cuz I watched them fall away
Mildewed and smoldering. Fundamental differing.
Pure intention juxtaposed will set two lovers souls in motion
Disintegrating as it goes testing our communication
The light that fueled our fire then has burned a hole between us so
We cannot see to reach an end crippling our communication.

I know the pieces fit cuz I watched them tumble down
No fault, none to blame it doesn't mean I don't desire to
Point the finger, blame the other, watch the temple topple over.
To bring the pieces back together, rediscover communication

The poetry that comes from the squaring off between,
And the circling is worth it.
Finding beauty in the dissonance.

There was a time that the pieces fit, but I watched them fall away.
Mildewed and smoldering, strangled by our coveting
I've done the math enough to know the dangers of our second guessing
Doomed to crumble unless we grow, and strengthen our communication.

Cold silence has a tendency to atrophy any
Sense of compassion
Between supposed lovers/brothers
