One more...Neil Diamond's

Words and music by Neil Diamond

The story of my life is very plain to read
It starts the day you came
And ends the day you leave
The story of my life begins and ends with you
The names are still the same
And the story's still the truth

I was alone.
You found me waiting and made me your own
I was afraid
That somehow I never could be a man that you wanted of me

You're the story of my life, and every word is true
Each chapter sings your name
Each page begins with you
It's the story of our times and never letting go
If I die today, I wannted yo to know

Stay with me here
Share with me, care with me
Stay and be near
and when it began I'd lie awake every night
Just knowing somewhere deep inside
That our affair just might write

The story of my life is very plain to read
It starts the day you came
It ends the day you leave

Sorry for hogging this thread...but how about STYX!

Every night I say a prayer in the hope that there's a heaven
And every day I'm more confused as the saints turn into sinners
All the heroes and legends I knew as a child have fallen to idols of clay
And I feel this empty place inside so afraid that I've lost my faith

Show me the way, show me the way
Take me tonight to the river
And wash my illusions away
Show me the way

And as I slowly drift to sleep, for a moment dreams are sacred
I close my eyes and know there's peace in a world so filled with hatred
That I wake up each morning and turn on the news to find we've so far to go
And I keep on hoping for a sign, so afraid that I just won't know

Show me the way, Show me the way
Take me tonight to the mountain
And wash my confusion away

And if I feel light, should I believe
Tell me how will I know

Show me the way, show me the way
Take me tonight to the river
And wash my illusions away
Show me the way, show me the way
Give me the strength and the courage
To believe that I'll get there someday
Show me the way

Every night I say a prayer
In the hope that there's a heaven...

This one should take some of us back...it's based on a Russian folk song, and was a one-number hit" way back when. All I can recall is the chorus...

Those were the days, my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance
Forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young
And sure to have our way..."

If you see a faded sign by the side of the road that says
15 miles to the... Love Shack!

LOVE SHACK!!!!!!! The B52's my #1 song!

When you're weary, feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all;

Simon & Garfunkel...Bridge Over Troubled Water

Hello, darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision
That was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence

Simon & Garfunkel...Sounds of Silenceplus all other S&G tunes were great!

The entire REM Automatic for the People album is the best imo.

WOW! What memories these songs are bringing back to me!

"Story of My Life" always brought tears to my eyes!

Styx was a great group.

I haven't heard "Those were the Days" in ages Bill, but I do remember it. Thanks for bringing it back!

Cajun - S&G is one of my all time favorites.

"So far away,
Doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore?
It would be so fine to see you face at my door.
It doesn't help to know
That you're just time away."

"So Far Away" - Carole King.

A great new song that I've been singing a lot lately...

So Far Away - Staind

this is my life
its not what it was before
all these feelings i've shared
and these are my dreams
that i'd never lived before
somebody shake me
cuz i
i must be sleeping

[chorus]
now that we're here,
it's so far away
all the struggle we thought was in vain
all in the mistakes,
one life contained
they all finally start to go away
now that we're here its so far away
and i feel like i can face the day i can forgive
and i'm not ashambed to be the person that i am today

these are my words
that i've never said before
i think i'm doing okay
and this is the smile
that i've never shown before

somebody shake me cuz i
i must be sleeping

[chorus]

i'm so afraid of waking
please don't shake me
afraid of waking
please don't shake me

Probably the most lyrical and strangest lyric song has to be Queens Bohemian Rhapsody. Anyone else agree?

Hey STORMFURY ?? Those girls are they your daughters?

I agree - I remember I didn't like it at first when it first came out. It's a classic to me now!

One of my favorite songs ever.....

"You are the dancing queen
Young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing queen
Feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance, you can jive
Having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene
Dig in the dancing queen" -ABBA

Bohemian Rhapsody is definitely a strange lyrical masterpiece ...

And nope, I don't have any children ... If you're referring to the avatar, that's Tara Reid ...

I remember painting my father's house to the sound of Bohemian Rhapsody.

You should have seen the paint job when I was done!

Don't go wastiing your devotion
Lay all your love on me!
Don't go sharing your emotion
Lay all your love on me!"

"I can still recall
Our last summer
I can see it all...
Walks along the Seine
Laughing in the rain
Our last summer
Memories that remain..."

"We're all dancing to a strange melody
We're all summoned by a tune
We're following the piper
And we dance beneath the moon!

And we dance beneath the moon for him
And we dance beneath the moon!
(Sub luna sabamus...)"

Ask me if I like ABBA...LOL

"It's time to be honest with you babe
you made me a better woman
you cared for me so much
so much you scared me boy

Now I feel you in the air I breath
even though you're not in front of me
you were like a summer breeze
and it's killing me"

Street Man Named Desire by

The President still has a job but I don't

Tonight he'll sleep in a big warm bed but I won't

You'll see me standing in front of a bus stop both

with a sign that reads will work for food

and later I'll take my place around the trash barrel fire

wheres the pot of gold for a street man named desire

There's nothing like good rock & roll or songs with a good beat to get you moving!

Talk about strange lyrics. What about:

Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again

I have a question (speaking of weird lyrics) --
Did anyone ever figure out what the heck Neneh Cherry (in the 80's) meant by "buffalo stance?"
