Suppressed system MAY bring a possible wintry weather threat

#1 Postby Stormsfury » Sun Feb 08, 2004 9:42 pm

to South Carolina ... PROVIDED the cold air arrives before the moisture leaves ... The funny thing is ... I'm ON VACATION this week and on the particular day in question is the DAY THAT I DON'T WANT ANY WINTRY WEATHER ... THURSDAY ... I have my reasons.

Extended ... A continued PNA pattern with a modified -NAO signal (by no means classical in any sense) ... Guidance continues to hint as a strong arctic outbreak towards the end of next weekend/Monday of next week. With the current active pattern to continue in the southern stream ... timing of the cold air, SHOULD it pan out, could get quite INTERESTING sometime towards the beginning of next week ...

Stay tuned.

NWS D.C. is echoing similar concerns for the same time period. They mentioned the 17th here.
