they were here. There was evidence of an imminent attack on Pearl Harbor, and nothing was done. If something would have been done, the USS Arizona wouldn't be sitting on the floor of Pearl Harbor right now. Alot of things would be different now. Mabe for the better, maybe not.

that i disagree with. roosevelt was in the same position bush was in. there was plenty of evidence of a japanese attack, but when and where? i dont fault roosevelt. what i am referring to is the vicious attacks roosevelt would have endured after the attack, and the endless investigations as to why he didnt prevent it.

the Congressional and Senate hearings that occurred after Pearl Harbor and the media assaults on FDR claiming that he knew about the attack in advance but did nothing because he wanted into WWII? In fact, it even gets brought up today everytime we commemerate Pearl Harbor-the questions about FDR are asked.

check the records. you will find none of the vicious attacks on roosevelt that you see today on bush. most of what you are referring to is revisionist history after the war.

The press was governed by a different set of rules in FDR's days so to equate the two sets of circumstances isn't fair at all. Steve is right about the Pearl Harbor questions. Personally I think it was more of a SNAFU type of thing but we may never know the truth....

Wasn't all that addressed in "Tora! Tora! Tora!" -- about how the both countries attempted diplomacy first and the Japanese offered a supposed warning about the attack. But other messages that were intercepted from the Japanese were perceived to be deceptive so no one could really determine when the attack was to take place.

IMO, "Pearl Harbor" didn't even come close to telling it like it was.
