How about this fun one by the Vapors

Ive got your picture
Of me and you
You wrote I love you
I love you too
I sit there staring and theres nothing else to do

Oh its in color
Your hair is brown
Your eyes are hazel
And soft as clouds
I often kiss you when theres no one else around

Ive got your picture, Ive got your picture
Id like a million of you over myself
I asked the doctor to take your picture
So I can look at you from inside as well
Youve got me turning up and turning down and turning in and
turning round

Im turning Japanese I think Im turning Japanese I really think
so
Turning Japanese I think Im turning Japanese I really think so
Im turning Japanese I think Im turning Japanese I really think
so
Turning Japanese I think Im turning Japanese I really think so

Ive got your picture, Ive got your picture
Id like a million of them over myself
I want the doctor to take your picture
So I can look at you from inside as well
Youve got me turning up and turning down and turning in and
turning round

Im turning Japanese I think Im turning Japanese I really think
so
Turning Japanese I think Im turning Japanese I really think so
Im turning Japanese I think Im turning Japanese I really think
so
Turning Japanese I think Im turning Japanese I really think so

No sex, no drugs, no wine, no women
No fun, no sin, no you, no wonder its dark
Everyone around me is a total stranger
Everyone avoids me like a cyclone ranger
Everyone

Thats why Im turning Japanese I think Im turning Japanese I
really think so
Turning Japanese I think Im turning Japanese I really think so
Im turning Japanese I think Im turning Japanese I really think
so
Turning Japanese I think Im turning Japanese I really think so

Turning Japanese I think Im turning Japanese I really think so
Turning Japanese I think Im turning Japanese I really think so
Turning Japanese I think Im turning Japanese I really think so

Turning Japanese I think Im turning Japanese I really think so

I'm sleeping
And right in the middle of a good dream
Then all at once I wake up
From something that keeps knocking at my brain
Before I go insane
I hold my pillow to my head
And spring up in my bed
Screaming out the words I dread ....
"I think I love you!"
~The Partridge Family "I Think I Love You"

When it's time to change (when it's time to change),
Don't fight the tide, go along for the ride,
Don't ya see.
When it's time to change, you've got to rearrange,
Who you are and what you're gonna be.
Sha na na na na na na na na
Sha na na na na.
Sha na na na na na na na na na
Sha na na na na
~The Brady Kids "Time To Change"

When you're with the Flintstones
you'll have a yabba dabba doo time.
A dabba doo time.
You'll have a gay old time.
~"The Flintstones Theme"

Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman.
All the world's waiting for you,
and the power you possess.
In your satin tights,
Fighting for your rights
And the old Red, White and Blue.
~Norman Gimbel and Charles Fox "The Wonder Woman Theme"

Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name,
and they're always glad you came.
You wanna be where you can see,
our troubles are all the same
You wanna be where everybody knows
Your name.
~Gary Portnoy and Judy Hart Angelo "Where Everybody Knows Your Name (Cheers Theme)"

ROTFLMAO ... OMG, thanks for the laugh (because of the meaning of the song itself)

I LOVE that song!

I don't know the answer as to WHY the lights went out. But on that same night, they hung an innocent man. (Oops! That's not the argument I want to offer, is it?)

How about:
And Papa said to Mama as he passed around the blackeyed peas
"Well, Billie Joe never had a lick of sense, pass the biscuits, please"
"There's five more acres in the lower forty I've got to plow"
And Mama said it was shame about Billie Joe, anyhow
Seems like nothin' ever comes to no good up on Choctaw Ridge
And now Billie Joe MacAllister's jumped off the Tallahatchie Bridge
~Bobbie Gentry "Ode To Billie Joe"

Don't ask me why Billie Joe jumped, because that's a whole other story.

I'll take a small break from Floyd today *lol* for a really good Genesis song about a young man desperately trying to reconcile with his father.

"No Son of Mine" from "The Way We Walk" album

You're no son, you're no son of mine,
You're no son, you're no son of mine,
You walked out, you left us behind,
And you're no son, you're no son of mine,

Oh, his words how they hurt me, I'll never forget it,
And as the time it went by, i lived to regret it.

You're no son, you're no son of mine,
But where should I go? And what should I do?
You're no son, you're no son of mine,
But I came here for help, oh I came here for you.

Anyone remember this oldie from Tanya Tucker?

Spring

In a broken down apartment house,
lay a woman in labor
she said by the grace of God I'll have this child
and with the help of the neighbor
6 o'clock the sun was rising all upon the world
7:45 the neighbor smiled and said,
you've got a beautiful girl

(chorus)
She named her Spring ah ah ah
winter's been a long time passin'
she named her Spring
Tho she'd never been wed,
she held her newborn child and said
Spring, I've waited a long long time for you
a long long time for you

In a broken down apartment house,
lay a woman dying.
And by her side a little 6 yr old girl
who was softly crying.
Mama don't go away and leave me all alone
Mama said to the welfare lady,
"Find my child a good home"

(Chorus)
I'll miss you Spring ah ah ah
Winter's been a long time passing
I'll miss my Spring
The angels carried her away
the welfare lady knelt to pray
Spring, she'll be a long time gone from you
a long time gone from you

In a beautiful church outside of town
stands a woman smiling
and on her hand is a wedding band of fashionable styling
After all the years in the orphans home he's shared with you
and now your hopes and childhood dreams have all come true

Chorus
He loves you Spring ah ah ah
Winter's been a long time passing
He needs you Spring
He promised you today
He'd never leave or go away
Spring, He's waited a long long time for you
A long long time for you

I've been so many places in my life and time
I've sung a lot of songs I've made some bad rhymes
I've acted out my love on stages
with 10,000 people watching
But we're alone now and I'm singing this song for you....

Ahhhh, Karen Carpenter....What a voice!

"Schism" - Tool

I know the pieces fit cuz I watched them fall away
Mildewed and smoldering. Fundamental differing.
Pure intention juxtaposed will set two lovers souls in motion
Disintegrating as it goes testing our communication
The light that fueled our fire then has burned a hole between us so
We cannot see to reach an end crippling our communication.

I know the pieces fit cuz I watched them tumble down
No fault, none to blame it doesn't mean I don't desire to
Point the finger, blame the other, watch the temple topple over.
To bring the pieces back together, rediscover communication

The poetry that comes from the squaring off between,
And the circling is worth it.
Finding beauty in the dissonance.

There was a time that the pieces fit, but I watched them fall away.
Mildewed and smoldering, strangled by our coveting
I've done the math enough to know the dangers of our second guessing
Doomed to crumble unless we grow, and strengthen our communication.

Cold silence has a tendency to atrophy any
Sense of compassion
Between supposed lovers

"These times are temporary.
Someday the wind will carry you home, and you'll be free,
You'll be free.
No one will pull you down
You'll wake up and look around
And never again think of all, all that you've been missing."
