Funny, my friend Susie owns YaYa's and I used to work there for her many years ago when they opened up.

Next time you're in town there, you should take your Mom in and say hello to Susie and Tom! (Tell them to put your drink on my tab). lol I grew up running the waters of Ponce Inlet, both surfing in the ocean and boating in the river...what a great place. You know the little town of Wilbur by the Sea you pass on the way to the inlet? Thats where my homestead is! Neat to have that area in common with you!

We'll be in sunny Southern California for a week, starting next weekend! We're checking out the prospects of relocating there...I'm so nervous. Brian has a wonderful job offer out there, and they are flying us out there to check it out. Not sure I'm ready to leave the south and become a California girl...please add our family to your prayer list as we are deciding to make such a drastic change in our lives.

Gasp!! Snow on your Mardi Gras parade???? Bundle up there girl! That's why I sooooo love weather, it's never boring!! :lol:

I just love that area, Shannon ... Wilbur by the Sea and P.I. We were only there 3 months while the house in Ormond Bch was being built, but I enjoyed every second!! Must've been an awesome place to grow up!

Gasp #2!! Southern California?? Wow, that's a major change ... definitely calling for some prayer - that God will make it glaringly apparent which direction He wants you all to go and that your path will be smooth and straight. Let us know what it's like after you get back, OK? Be safe too.

Josh, I'll be in Temecula and surrounding areas. We fly into Ontario, CA.Oceanside Bch is one of the areas we'll be checking out, and Huningtons not too far from there, is it? Lemme know any info you have on housing costs or cost of living....Thanks Josh!

We have heavy sleet right now, turning to snow overnight!!!! 70% chance of snow falling on our Mardi Gras parade tomorrow! Exciting wx news for this town of Shreveport, where it never snows!

Huntington Beach is in northwest Orange County, and Oceanside is in northwest San Diego County. I'm about 4 miles from the coast where I'm at. Rent here is ~$1100 a month or so for a decent sized 2 bedroom, 2 bath (well that's what I pay). I'll see what else I can find.

Well Josh, we're getting packed and will be headed your way on Friday, to check things out. I'm not sure I'd want to live in CA. and loose the quality of life I'm used to here. I see myself as Juliette Lewis in one of her movies where she lives out in the desert next to a cactus in her gramdmas old 1966 Airstream....lol But then again, when we first flew into Dallas TX, and we rented a car and drove to Shreveport, we expected to see cactus and tumbleweed, and instead it looked like any other highway we'd ever seen...lol All green and lush...funny how movies influence our ideas of what areas in the country are like, that we've never personally seen, huh?lol

The last half of February is often marked by warmer days, thawing ice, and early morning fog. There's a hint in the sky that the sun is growing higher each day. Shadows are a little shorter. The bone-chilling cold burns off just a minute earlier.

The problem, of course, is that February is followed by March. March is still winter where I came from...back in Illinois, but hopes are always high for a nice sunny day to surprise you on a weekend.

Here's to adding another log or two to the pot belly stove. You'll smell hot chili at lunch today, so stop on by and warm yourself from the inside out!

You couldn't be more right poppysky, it has finally started to warm up a bit here. Still not above freezing, but this afternoon looks promising. March always gives us a slap or two though, as it dumps another snowstorm on us. But it is usually the lst hurrah. Not always, I remember blizzards in April, and snow into May. But fingers are crossed for a mild March and a fast approach to spring.

Wow, a warm day in the Burgh. Not all the snow is melted, but at least I got out on the patio and "puttered" around. I took all the pine and holly out of the planters. Geeezzzz, I can't wait for spring. Looking at the gardens and they really need my attention.

Furry, always a new adventure. As long as you're with the ones you love ------ you can live anywhere and be happy.

Well, I'll throw a log on the fire and brew a pot of Earl Grey. That always entices Miss Mary to stop in at the Stove - something about that fragrant aroma of Earl Grey Tea.

I think I'll sit in the rocker and use Granny's afgan and just relax for awhile.

Well I thought I would stop by and rest here today for a while.

Since the accident, I am somewhat limited on how much I am able to do. I am ambulatory and "functional", but not like I normally in. I am now understanding even more why people retain attorneys after a wreck. I watch the ads on tv and sometimes berate them for being ambulance chasers, but I will be retaining one soon. My normal activities have been seriously curtailed for the time being.

So if you don't mind I am gonna sit and the rocker and borrow grannies afgan for a while. urry wave towards SF area while you are there in CA. That is where my Aunt and Uncle live. I love visiting CA, but haven't been there since 1989 whem my Grandmother died. I have some wonderful memories of my visits there in my youth.

Weather here in Houston has been beautiful this week with highs reaching into the lower 70's. Not supposed to be so nice this afternoon through Tuesday though with rain and storms expected.

I'll check ya'll later.

Hmm. That makes me want to move to Texas. I can understand the transplanted yankee phenomenon.

It's been gettin up in the 30's and low 40's in the daytime and it's no longer dark when I leave work. A couple weeks ago it was in the single digits. I guess this is halfway to nice weather.

Out of all the months, March is probably the hardest to take. It's supposed to be getting warmer, but the temps linger at winterlike, and you just want to get out an DO something.

David, try to make the best of the time "off." Get caught up on your reading and stuff.

Karan, I know about cabin fever. I got in a 15 mile bike ride today, with my rubber "wet suit" mask, multiple layers of "high tech" clothing and everything. Brrrr.

Back from San Diego. Our flight got out about 90 minutes before some squalls pushed through the city...it was raining in Phoenix 47 minutes later when we arrived, but that too passed. Tonight, though, more rain on the way...even thunderstorms well into tomorrow. Looks like Dennis will see snow to a foot or more! Don't move to the Front Porch just yet!!!

Had a chance to call Furluvcats on Saturday. Although we were hoping to perhap be at the San Diego zoo at the same time...it didn't work out. She and Brian were roaming around wine country, while Emma, Poppysky, and family were checking out the animals under a drizzly and rainy sky. Had a wonderful 36 hours with our little lady.

Earl Grey sounds good about now...with the chill in the air from approaching rains tonight.

Prayers are with you in need and in pain.
