Am I Missing Something Here? Snow Still Possible???

#1 Postby southerngale » Sat Feb 14, 2004 3:20 pm

It looks like all of the precipitation has moved off to my east, but local NWS just said a couple of hours ago:

.THIS AFTERNOON...MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A 40 PERCENT CHANCE OF LIGHT
RAIN...POSSIBLY BECOMING MIXED WITH LIGHT SNOW OR LIGHT SLEET BY LATE
AFTERNOON. NO ACCUMULATIONS EXPECTED.

.TONIGHT...CLOUDY WITH A 50 PERCENT CHANCE OF RAIN...MIXED WITH
SNOW AND SLEET...ENDING LATE. NO ACCUMULATIONS EXPECTED.

Is more supposed to develop or are they just crazy? Can anyone explain please? If my shot is over as I suspect, I wanna start looking for canes. 8-)

Anything can happen. Snow will stall and dump half-foot over you, Kelly.

The only thing they could be thinking about is some wrap around from the exiting storm system. I do not see it happening, not with our temps in the mid 40's. It is possible but not probable IMO.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORT WORTH TX
316 PM CST SAT FEB 14 2004

.DISCUSSION...
SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOWS THAT THE UPPER LOW CONTINUE TO TRACK EAST-
SOUTHEASTWARD THIS AFTERNOON....AND WAS SOUTHEAST OF PALESTINE
AS OF 21Z. SOME LIGHT...AND OCCASIONAL MODERATE SNOW...CONTINUES
NORTH OF INTERSTATE 20. WILL ALLOW THE HEAVY SNOW WARNING...AND
SNOW ADVISORIES TO EXPIRE AT THE 4 PM...BUT WILL ISSUE A SNOW
ADVISORY ALONG AND NORTHEAST OF A GAINESVILLE...TO MCKINNEY...TO
SULPHUR SPRINGS LINE...WHERE AN ADDITIONAL 1 INCH IS POSSIBLE
BEFORE THE SNOW ENDS LATE THIS EVENING. THE CLOUDS WILL GRADUALLY
DECREASE AS THE LOW MOVES FARTHER AWAY. HAVE UNDERCUT THE FWC
GUIDANCE FOR SUNDAY AS THE MELTING SNOW COVER WILL TEND TO
KEEP TEMPERATURES FROM WARMING AS MUCH AS IT INDICATES.
TEMPERATURES WILL RETURN TO NEAR NORMAL ON MONDAY...AND WARM
THROUGH MIDWEEK AS UPPER LEVEL RIDGING OCCURS. THE NEXT CHANCE OF
RAIN...AND THUNDERSTORMS...APPEARS TO BE THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY
AS AN STRONG UPPER SYSTEM SLIDES ACROSS THE CENTRAL PLAINS. #58
