Considering the slogan had been around for years, I think it was pretty silly for them to ban the shirts. It would be as bad as telling a teen that he/she can't wear a shirt that says, "Coke Adds Life" because someone else might think of drugs instead of a soft drink.
If it was a newly adopted slogan presented by some shock jock at a radio station, I could understand the fuss. But if it's been chosen by the city, I see nothing wrong with it.

I sent an employee home once for wearing a t-shirt with a caricature picture of two gays on it with the circle/slash sign over it...obviously suggestion he was opposed to gays.
As a conservative Midwesterner who was sent home from school for not wearing a belt on my khakis, I'd support a move to keep all t-shirts with language/photos out of our schools!
Not much sympathy from me on this topic.

Was it the one that graphically depicts the act (with two stick figures)? I can't stand seeing that one! I don't know what's worse -- someone waving their rainbow flag in my face or waving their anti-gay crap in my face. Both are separatist agendas that need to take a back burner.
Good for you for sending him home.

That's the one, Duck. Stick figures and all. He came back an hour later with a non-descript polo shirt.
Then you know what happened. It was predictable. He came to me every time he looked at someone else's t-shirt and reminded me he was offended. Which, in the end, only helped my cause further, not his.
He changed careers shortly thereafter.
Wonder if he went to work for a t-shirt factory?
