Ouch...

ALONG THE MID-ATLANTIC COAST...ALSO FOLLOWED THE GFS WITH ITS
LOW MOVING CLOSER TO THE COAST. HOWEVER...IT IS POSSIBLE THAT
THE GFS MAY BE JUST A LITTLE TOO FAR TO THE WEST GIVEN THE
SOLUTIONS OF THE UKMET/CANADIAN. FOR THIS REASON MANUAL QPF
HAS CUT BACK ON THE GFS OVER MUCH OF THE INTERIOR MID-
ATLANTIC...BUT CONDITIONS STILL APPEAR FAVORABLE FOR HEAVY RAIN
OVER THE SRN DELMARVA...SERN VA...AND NERN NC.

8+ of snow seems unlikely Richmond to BWI

my local mets say:

"It appears another snow storm is heading our way, but forecasters say it could be anything from a significant snow to nothing at all.  It all depends on the track of a coastal storm that hasn’t yet formed but could slide along the coast late Tuesday into Wednesday.

NBC12 Meteorologist Andrew Freiden says it looks like metro Richmond will get snow and points east of here will get all rain.  But he cautions, the exact track of the storm will make all the difference."

It certainly bears watching, but 8+ seems way over done IMHO
