Stealth aircraft over my house

#1 Postby Rainband » Sun Feb 15, 2004 10:26 pm

I don't know what it was but a lot of my neighbors came outside, as did me and Tony, it was very loud and moved like nothing I have ever seen. IT WAS COOL!!!!! 8-)

Yeah, I saw the networks ads for the Daytona race and they were pushing the fact that W was going to be there. Showed a pic of the B-2 (that's the funny-looking stealth bird, right?) flying across the sky. :) Lucky you! I haven't seen it in real life yet.

I lived in Sedalia, Missouri before/during/after 9-11. It is 7 miles from Whiteman AFB in Knob Noster. That is the home of the B2. For weeks and months after 9/11 it was common to see them flying out. In fact, a professor of mine made the comment that we were the first to know that the Iraq war was about to begin.

We've had one over our house, too. I never get tired of seeing them.

With Luke AFB not far from us, we see F16's quite often.

My favorite, however, is still the B-1 bomber. That is amazing to watch and HEAR!

I do know that Air Force One flew over the Daytona track. Very exciting thing to see and the fans went wild!! Did not get to see the national anthem sang. After it is sang jets usually fly over. Maybe this year they flew the Stealth. Hate I missed that.

I remember a few years ago when I was in Europe I saw 11 F-117 stealth fighters, one right after another, fly over at a high altitude. It was something that I will never forget :D

The picture Linda posted was the F-117 Stealth fighter, there's also the B-2 Stealth bomber. Looks like the old "flying wing". :-)

On the bottom of the link that Linda posted are the Canadian Snowbirds. They were here last year for one of the air shows up near Houston. They took off from Sholes Field down here in Galveston and few a couple of runs over the Gulf. I'm sure there were more, but at the time I was driving along the Seawall, the Snowbirds were in flight. Awesome to see! :)

The B-52 with allits glory is another awesome aircraft to see and hear. All 8 engines howling in the skies. Military aircraft have always been a passion for me.
