U.S. - Canadien Border Closed After Explosives Found

#1 Postby southerngale » Mon Feb 16, 2004 5:25 pm

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security said Monday that the border crossing between Washington state and Canada was closed after authorities found an explosive device in a car headed for Canada.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police confirmed that the item found was a grenade.

The incident happened at 1 p.m. PST, according to DHS spokesman Mike Milne. Traffic on both sides of the border was shut down and traffic was rerouted to Pacific Highway.

Canada Customs spokeswoman Paula Shore says she does not know whether anyone has been taken into custody.

The woman was detained for an hour and then released. Her hubby serves in our military and, for some odd reason, had a grenade in the glove box.
