Good Morning Everyone...
Here in Johnston County, it started snowing heavy around 7AM and we have a light accumulation. Now it has switched over to a light freezing rain and some sleet. Our local mets say there will be a lull in activity and that it MIGHT pick back up this afternoon into the evening. What are you thoughts??? Will it pick back and how much accumulation can we expect and will it be snow or ice??? Don't know how many of you are in my area but they are closing Johnston County Schools at 10 this morning. Everyone stay safe and warm. Thanks in advance.

I didn't even send my kids to school today since I didn't want to have to get out and have to pick them up in this mess. I think we are going to get enough to cause some serious road problems. It's still sleeting/freezing rain too. By looking at the radar it isn't going to let up anytime soon.

Johnston County looks to be taking it on the chin. Sounds like a great idea keeping everyone home from school NCWXChic, especially given what we're talking about with cold air wedging down. It's the wedge of cold air east of the mountains combined with the moisture from this developing coastal storm that's generating this winter problem.
But for east central North Carolina, I would say just stay home to be safe and enjoy the day in the snow. I'm expecting 2-4" of snow with this storm in Johnston County and Raleigh, NC. Gotta love it.

I have 2 kids in 2 different
Johnston County Schools. My oldest goes to high school in Smithfield NC and it wasn't doing anything when he had to be at the bus stop at 6:20 this morning. But by the time my youngest had to go at 7:10 it was snowing heavy so I called for him out the door and told him to come on back to the house. They closed our schools at 10 this morning so now I just have to hope the bus driver knows how to drive in this mess.

The roads look better now than they did this morning here. But it will pick back up later I am sure. A lot of kids didn't go to school today after talking with friends. Darn, I was supposed to go to Pre-school with my 2 yr old this morning to sign him up and the weather messed it up. Oh well, maybe next Tuesday.

JQ.... I'm not sure.... All I have
heard is something about something brewing in the Atlantic that could bring us more snow this afternoon and into the evening and even possibly early Wednesday morning. I am by no means a expert so if you figure anything out please let me know. Thanks!!!

Thanks WRKH99!
Let it snow! Let it snow! Then clear by weekend and let spring begin. Com'on thunderstorms! Oh yeah, they are idiots here when it comes to schools. I worked for the school several years ago and they didn't even let school out early when the winds were howling from a hurricane and I had to drive a school bus. It was horrible, the bus was swaying like crazy! So I quit and went back to school myself for computer engineering which was wasteful money now that I stay at home with my 2yr old. But I do work from home now. Still paying on that student loan. Arrgggghhh

Yes low pressure is expected to form off South Carolina coat and move slowly northeast. An upper disturbance is also situated to the west across Mississippi into Alabama. This upper disturbance is hence resulting in the transformation of a new low off South Carolina. Thus expect wintry wx to linger into North Carolina through at least this evening.
