Wed/Thur System! Some thoughts on it! Models Etc.

#1 Postby Guest » Fri Feb 20, 2004 7:36 pm

Well today all but one model "The EC" shows a possible MECS for the middle of next week in the MA and as well a decent snow storm for the southern OV.

EC as of right now shows a suppressed system but its by far the only model showing this and as well it has had its own set of problems this winter unlike last winter. Does that mean to totally ignore it? NO. But its something at this point i wouldnt exactly worry about either UNLESS all the others starts comming around to this solution!

What all the other models do show is a nice sized snow event from KY/Southern OH <----South of i70)over into the MA and up to about NYC. I do think that what we will see is a track closer to this BUT perhaps slightly north. Why slightly north?????

Lets face it unless we get a March 93 system odds favor a more northerly track for these systems seeing how we will be almost into March come mid week. (March 1st is the following Monday) Another reason is right now im having a hard time finding any super cold air (Or high pressure) to hold this system down south. (Supressed)
All this means is that Places such as the Carolinas and the deep south are losing thier chances day by day now as we head into the end of this month and into March. Anything is still possible but this does have to be conidered. Tonights GFS oddly enough already is showing some cad sigs down into SC which is worth mentioning and keeping a eye on?

Right now i would say KY/VA north is who should be definetly keeping a close eye on this system. Perhaps the typical (Cad areas) of NC/SC as well. Someone in these areas has a chance at a big snowstorm/noreaster.

Another side note here to watch for with this system is the possible severe wx it may carry with it as well in the south!

Plenty of time to watch this baby and certainly alot more updates and discussions to come before we get to this possible happening midweek!
