Russian PM and Cabinet FIRED!

#1 Postby streetsoldier » Tue Feb 24, 2004 9:40 am

Just in on FoxNews; President Vladimir Putin held a major shake-up in the Kremlin, firing his Prime Minister and the entire Russian Cabinet.

From what little is known at this time, Putin may be trying to fill those positions with former KGB officers (Komitet Gosidarstbennoye Besopasnostu, or "Committee for State Security"), who would be more agreeable to his positions (remember, Putin was a high-ranking KGB officer before the 1991 breakup of the USSR).

More as it develops.

Need to keep our eye on the former Soviet Union.

Wow! That's really interesting! I wonder why after all of this time he's doing it now. He's been in power for several years now. There must be more to the story.

Keep us posted Bill!

I think at that point, the elections would be meaningless.

Umm it's close to election time for him. Keep an eye on them as well as China/N Korea because I am hearing things that are not good.

Hey I just drive a truck all day and have some good sources. Well rumors of late are: 3 Russian/terrorist subs sunk in the GOM, N.Korea can in fact reach anywhere in the CONUS with a ICBM nuke. Political front: is the long standing belief that China & Russia have a partnership to bring US down. They are also supplying and pulling the strings of Al-Qaeda in order to help bring US down. China also wants Tiawan real soon.

I read in the paper this morning that Putin fired the PM and others because many of them were from the Boris Yeltsin era. They were very pro-business and some hide ties to the Russian multi-millionaires that benefited from that time which from what was reported, the public despises.

...that being the case; what took him so long to fire them?

Also, the appointment of the former KGB officers may be enough to sway the people into voting for him. They remember the terror those men put in people's hearts and lives. Maybe he is hearing that the elections are going to be tight.
