The Lion King 1 1/2

#1 Postby timNms » Tue Feb 24, 2004 9:59 am

For a good laugh, go out and buy this movie! My wife and I made a late run to Wal Mart last night and got the movie. My daughter and I laughed so hard throughout the movie that we were in tears.

I assume it is called the Lion King 1 1/2, because the Lion King 2 will be in theatres. Not too often do we see a movie sequel (or prequel) on video and DVD after at least the first one is in the theatre.

It's Timon's version of what really happened in The Lion King. I'm still laughing about it!

Tim - thanks for the suggestion! Of all the cartoon/Disney movies my kids watched, The Lion King and Beauty & The Beast were my favorites. I still clearly remember Laura sitting on my lap in the theater (she was 2 or 3 then) crying when Simba's dad dies. She wailed - Mommy, this is so sad, Simba's dad dies...... A mother in front of me turned around and said - awww, sympathetically. Laura talked about that for a long time. And still gets sad if we watch that scene - she's 13 now.

Oh, another one is the original Alladan - with Robin Williams. Hilarious.

Lion King II is out on Video. We've had it for awhile. My daughters still think that they are some of the best cartoons to date. I also love them

Gee, The Lion King came out in 1994 (already 10 years ago!)... as Mary mentioned.

The Lion King 2, I actually remember being out... it was out in 1998 and now The Lion King 1 1/2 which was released on video and DVD on February 10th.

The scene:
The herd is stampeding down the gorge. Pumba and Timon happen to be in the gorge looking for a home. Pumba says to Timon, "Shall we run for our lives?" Timon replies, "Yes, Let's!"
I've seen it a dozen times already and it still cracks me up!

Tim/Tom - a few questions.

Is Lion King II available for rent now? It must be right? It came out a few years ago.

That asked, is Lion King 1 1/2 available for rent now? Or just available for purchase still?

I'd like to watch LK soon again, rent LK II and then watch LK 1 1/2 soon.

Another question Tim!!! Would you recommend watching 1 1/2 after LK II? Or before?

Okay, is your head spinning yet? Thanks!!!! I'd just like to know these things b/c well we're well into the teen years over here, so I'm a little out of loop with this LK stuff. My girls are into teen movies now - they just love Dazed & Confused, Empire Records, etc. Funny movies, I enjoy them too, but quite different from Disney films. LOL

Miss Mary,

I sent you a PM :)

I'd watch I and II first, then 1 1/2. 1 1/2 is basically Timon's story. It takes the viewer back to how Timon's comical life was before he met Pumba. It's so funny! I think your teens will like it. My 17 yr old daughter and I laughed so hard we cried while watching it.

Hey Tom - that's okay. Tim PM'ed me and told me the best order to watch the movies in. I need to go back and watch the first movie over again though - it's been years since we saw it.

I actually saw the Lion King in the movie theatre.

It isn't easy following the plot to a particular movie, when you aren't interested in watch them.
