Unborn Victims of Violence Act passes the House

#1 Postby j » Fri Feb 27, 2004 9:03 am

To me, its sad that this is even up for debate in the first place, but I am elated that finally something is being done to recognize that "tissue mass", as a potential human being.

In a nutshell, this law would ensure that a criminal would be held accountable for the TWO victims of crime against a pregnant woman in which an unborn child is injured or killed during the commision of a federal crime.

As expected, there is heated debate from the Pro-Abortion members.

Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, a Democrat from NY, went off on this rediculous tangent when she said:

"This bill will make every miscarriage subject to investigation. Studies show that miscarriages can occur because of excessive smoking, coffee drinking, and exposure to chemicals, illness, stress or trauma diring an accident.....

If someone comes to work for an example, with German measles knowing they could infect their fellow employees, could they be guilty of manslaughter? Will Starbucks have to post signs advising pregnant woman the can not purchase more than two cups of coffee...?"

(and she went on and on and on....)

As usual, there was the spin by the Pro baby killing crowd to divert attention from the true intent of this bill; which is protection for women and their unborn children from violence.

Then there are the usual suspects speaking out.

Groups like NOW, who call the bill, "part of a cynical startegy to whittle away abortion rights guaranteed under Roe v Wade and set the stage for its reversal."

Then of course there is Planned Parenthood (btw...is this not a rediculous name for a group that supports the killing of babies??)

The usual suspects: National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League (NARAL), National Abortion Federation, etc...etc...., are all actively lobbying against this bill.

I don't know why they don't just all combine their forces and form one organization.....

They could call it NOFKB ... (National Organization For Killing Babies)
