That doesn't mean she's against it silly. It just means Cheney and Co. won't let her speak her mind, because it could hurt the Bush admins. credibility.

bush is right, marriage has been just fine for centuries. this is just a liberal secular attack on traditional values
You forgot that 3 out of the 4 judges in Mass were Republican. Oops.

They used to think that about interracial marriages also. Forget about whether it's liberal or conservative, secular or Christian. It's just not the right time yet. When and if it happens before the eyes of God and my family, then I'll accept it as being a "marriage". Otherwise, it's just like Britney Spears at a Vegas chapel all over again.
Besides, in a lot of states, the "act" that some of these couples would engage in if they were married is not legal yet.
You can't put the buggy before the horse.
Its not even close to the same thing. Since the beginning of time, marriage has been understood and defined as man and woman. Interracial marriages were a product of prejudice, gay marriage is a moral and nature issue.
1850: Since the beginning of time it's been ok to keep blacks as slaves
1950: Since the beginning of time it's been ok to keep blacks out of white schools
2004: Since the beginning of time it's been ok to keep gays from getting married

Okay, so now I see all these people blathering about about gay marriage and how terrible it is and how it destroys the sanctity of marriage and the fabric of American life - so much so that we need a Constitutional amendment to stop it.
But at the same time, one of the most popular ships on tv is My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance - a show that I believe takes the concept of holy matrimony and reduces it to money grubbing nothingingess.
Where's the hue and cry against that show? (Duck, I know you liked it, Sorry. I was planning to hold my tongue.)
Kinda like the Janet Jackson thing. How did all the parents who hid their children's eye at the sight of Janet Jackson's - ahem- you know - explain the meaning of all the Viagra and Cialis ads. My son is 19. But I cringed everytime an ad came on, wondering how a little one would react to those two people in bathtubs as the announcer said something like "When the time is right.....will YOU be ready?......."

Well said...
It's hypocritical for heterosexuals to ban gay marriage when it's the heteros that have already DESTROYED marriage. Reality tv shows, Britney Spears (who is Republican!), and a divorce rate of over 50%!! And then you have a group of people, homosexuals, ready to honor the sanctity of marriage and they are being denied it! Sad, but maybe the gays could teach the straights a thing or two about marriage.

I am sure there are homosexuals that would like to ban gay marriages, too.

What do reality TV shows have to do with having only an attraction to the same gender?

Yea, and I'm sure you could even find a few straight people who would like to ban straight marriages. What's your point?
In regard to reality tv shows, I guess you didn't read the post I replied too. Reread it again and you'll figure it out buddy. Reality tv shows are another example of the degredation and disrespect of marriage in the U.S.

With the majority of people being straight... the way you asked and I answered is the most typical circumstance.

I did read and just reread your post and that's true.

Oh, so you can be disgusted by my opinion, but I can't be disgusted by the fact that far too many gays out there are helping to perpetuate the myth that the straight world has of them (us), as they parade around in public wearing leather or pink butterfly wings, waving their rainbow flags all over the place?
It's not that they look and dress different. It's that they look and dress the same. Did I miss something in the gay handbook that says I have to fit in with the rest of the crowd -- dress the same, vote the same, listen to the same music, hang with the same people? I may have been born this way, but I CHOOSE not to subscribe to the "gay" way of life, if there really is one. I am simply being me (which includes being a conservative), not what gay society tells me I should be.
I just don't understand the need for separatism and gay "pride." If we want to be accepted and have the same rights as everyone else (which we do, aside from marriage), why not just be who we are as individuals? The only true difference is that our significant others happen to be the same sex as us.
But from that picture above, it's hard to tell. If you're going to be with someone of the same sex, shouldn't they look like it?

Ready to honor the sanctity of marriage by getting married en masse? Oh, that's showing them alright. That will surely teach those darn straights a thing or two about marriage. Face it, at least 95% of those marriages were spur-of-the-moment -- just like Britney Spears. I don't think they'll last. They didn't do it for the sake of commitment. They did it to spite those who are opposed to it. And now, all it's going to do is fly back in their faces a few years down the road when the opponents can point to the "divorce" statistics and laugh.

now if only his views weren't based on an ancient fairy tale we'd be in good shape
For you to come out and refer to Christianity in this manner, gives your argument zero credibility. You trashed 2000 years of tradition, which is based upon historical fact (as per the Romans themselves). I wih in the future that you would not resort to these baseless accusations about things that are very important to many, including yours truly

Any conservatives care to address this one?

I suppose I could, but I'm fairly certain you meant a straight conservative, right?
