Texas and the Deep South (Canadien/Arctic Air on the way)

It just doesn't look like a huge cold outbreak is on the way for the South. This morning's 30-degree lows near the Gulf Coast were probably the worst below normal lows for a while. I don't think that it will get down to freezing here in Ohio on Monday. Looking at the European computer model, I don't see any 850 temps below 4C for the South until next Saturday. (not including Texas Panhandle)

I see no signs of any arctic air and time is definately running out. If it doesn't come within the next two weeks, I don't see us getitng much below freezing due to increasing sun angle and longer days.

I never say never down here in Houston. I am not redicting anything, but I have seen it in the 20's on March 22 here in Houston in times past. Next 10 days or so should be realtively spring like though.

Many times when the South has a really cold outbreak is when there is a large amount of snowcover in the Midwest. Today, this is not the case as the temperatures have warmed everywhere in the Midwest (and there wasn't much in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio earlier this month) and the southern Midwest wont see any new snow cover until ... not sure ...a week ... or December, maybe.
