Howard Stern yanked from Clear Channel!

Molecules, you must be referring to the local news which is 30 minutes of wasted time. You can be sure that every fire, car wreck, shooting, etc., will be covered in every detail. I couldn't agree more on that point. Network news isn't much better. Another 30 minutes of scandal's, soundbites, and, slanted suasion.

Stern's sophmoric schtick would be fine on HBO or something like that. His act is getting old. I used to think it was funny, but now its boring and stupid. I saw his movie and he seems to think that he's on some kind of crusade. It's not a crusade about free speech, it's a crusade about promoting himself.

OK I see your point thanks for your agreement on the news.

Stern is my daily routine in the morning I enjoy listening to his show every mon-fri! The show makes me laugh and I love there cast they have. I also believe there is about another million or so listeners enjoy the show also. I can see if you get bored I understand, but you have the option to listen to it. As long as Philly area keeps him on the air I will be more then happy.

Very good point.....Where do you start? not the howard stern radio show. Look at the programming TV these day. Soaps, reality shows, parents, government, advertisements, billboards!!
It's all about sexual content and desires! Even Disney movies have sexual hidden content. South Park (i love the cartoon and watch it every week) but how do they get away w/ half the stuff they have. Sex can be dangerous especially during teenage years I'm lucky I'm married w/ a prefect wonderful wife and I listened to Howard Stern all my life! I have morals that's why and I was well educated about sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll. I was told the truth about all of it and not sheltered my whole life. Most kids I grow up w/ that had so much potential in life that were sheltered ended having STD's, Drug, and alcohol problems. (Scare tactic of DARE) Doesn't work!! The point is the world will never change. The best thing to do is educate your kids in the dangers of what is out there.

This is my two cents on Howard Stern ...

I don't listen to him (except for the last hour or so waiting to hear some heavy music on the new 98X in Charleston ... *two fists in the air for the format change* ... I listen to the Bob and Tom Show in the morning.

But the fact of the matter is "We have a choice to listen or not to listen" ... if one likes the program, by all means they SHOULD have a choice to listen, and if one hates it, don't listen. The FCC has made quite a few changes and it has affected MANY of the markets, though, since Howard Stern, is by far the best known shock jock, of course, they come after him ... and the media (both liberal and conservative) don't have a clue to the ENTIRE STORY ... or just fail to REPORT THE ENTIRE TRUTH...

Some of the bits I've heard from Stern are funny, some aren't ... the FCC (which all of a sudden have changed all these guidelines) has certain rules and regulations ... and some of those are pure bunk as well, but that's another story...

But my point is that IF the material doesn't violate FCC guidelines (whatever radio/TV program it may be) and is broadcast, and there's a demand for it, SOMEONE ELSE will pick that program up ... plain and simple. And this is AMERICA ... people have the right to choose what's right for them to listen to ...

Off topic a bit, I REALLY hate Clear Channel. They own basically EVERY radio station here in Houston and the stations have suffered from it. The station I usually listen to (KHMX 96.5) has become very cookie-cutter the last few years, since becoming owned by CC. Before then, the station was a lot funnier in the mornings, and the music selection was much broader. As of now, not a SINGLE person from the "old era" is at the station now. I don't know if they quit, or if new management fired them, or if CC even had a hand in it at all, but I don't like it.

They own TONS of stations. Most all here in Florida as wel. I dont think that they have suffered any though.

There was a quick shot of a topless woman through a window in "The Rescuers," but Disney says that an mischievous animator did that and it certainly wasn't the studio's intention for it to be there. The scene is not available on current video releases.

So, what hidden sexual content are you referring to? I assume you meant "some" Disney movies, not all.

This is one of those where it's a matter of perception, so it's not really true or false. For just a split second, the word "sex" could be visible, in a twisted, abstract way. But how many children are really going to catch that? And if they did think it looked like the word, what effect would it have on them? The word alone doesn't suggest anything. Do parents hide the newspapers that have headlines the word "sex" or "sexual" in them? Aren't some kids eventually told to put M or F where it says "sex" when filling out papers for school?

Yeah, under pressure from the FCC (due to the consistent fines ... very corporate decision ...) ... Why after 10 years did Clear Channel think Howard Stern "all of a sudden" was not right for the 6 markets that he was yanked from? Fishy, isn't it?

Wholeheartedly agree ... 6 stations in Charleston are owned by Clear Channel and bleh ... the local outlets, 96 WAVE used to be good, but has turned into suckfest ever since pulling a lot of metal off their list, and claiming to be a rock station, and they play a lot of Bob Marley, and very easy stuff that belongs on a mix/hit radio station) ... and 98X (recent format change - 1/2/04) and they're local ... but it's a PURE ROCK STATION ... and I LOVE that station. (only station in CHS to ever have a PURE ROCK format). I LOVE hearing Disturbed, A Perfect Circle, etc, at 11 am in the morning (earlier on weekends)... I met the owner Mike Allen (and radio DJ Tom Bolt yesterday morning (Sunday, 2/29/04) on location, and had to tell them how much I appreciated them getting Sevendust, Element Eighty, and Ill Nino promoted and of the new radio format, which they informed me that it's here to stay for a LONG TIME. I got some free stuff just for stopping by and also got a mention on the radio from Mike Allen ... that was really cool ...
