Passion of Christ, did you see it?
I saw The Passion of Christ last night with my family. I was not prepared at all for the feelings that it stirred in me. I feel different today in my perspective of what really matters. I feel changed in many positive ways, and I am so glad I went. My heart is broken, though, at what He did for me and how I don't deserve it. I will thank Him for the rest of my life.

I have not seen it but my daughter did Friday night. She compared the graphicness (is that a word?) to Saving Private Ryan and said there were numerous points in the movie that not only she, but at least half the audience was in tears. She also stated the movie was more gut wrenching than Shindler's List, which we saw together years ago. Since I can no longer sit through an entire movie, I will wait for it to come out on dvd. I did ask her if she came away from the movie feeling as if the portrayal or characterization of Mel Gibson as being Anti-Semitic was justified-her answer? NO!!!!!

Still waiting for tickets.....every single show up here is sold out until NEXT week sometime, we're on a call list.
I've heard MANY different stories, reactions to this movie.....being raised in a Christian home, I grew up knowing what Jesus did for us but never really gave it much thought, all the suffering, the bloodshed, like sunnyday said so well, I don't deserve this kind of Love but yet, He did it for ALL of us! One account of the movie I've heard is YES....the violence is almost unbearable but the final message is......."We have VICTORY over death and everlasting life!" Thank you Jesus!

I just saw it this afternoon. I guess if I had to describe it in just one word, it would be POWERFUL. I tried to prepare myself by reading up on it a lot and watching whatever I saw on TV about it but you can't really prepare yourself for the emotions that overcome you when you see it. I go to church regularly and have heard over and over about Jesus' suffering and how he died on the cross for you and me, but in this movie you see the magnitude of what he really went through for us, and without regret. It is heart wrenching, yet beautiful.
I suggest bringing a few Kleenex with you.

Skywatch, those are neat movies, for sure. However, The Passion is in another category altogether. If you decide to see it, you will understand what Jesus really did for us.

Sunnyday, those other movies portrayed what the Lord did for us, too.

Yes, I know since I saw all of them, Skywatch. The difference is like a kiddy cartoon and a grown-up movie (in the nice sense). Those movies pale in comparison because they don't show just how violently He was treated. The Passion is by far the most violent movie I've eve seen, and the point was well made as to exactly what He did for us.

We've been trying to get tickets to see The Passion. Looks like it'll be a while around here before we can get in.
On another note. I've heard some complain about the violence in the movie. IMO, no matter how graphic man can portray the cruxifiction of Christ, we'll NEVER truly get the full gest of what He went through for us. The beatings, crown of thorns, being spat on, mocked....all are terrible...BUT imagine carrying the weight of the sins of the world, past, present and future on His shoulders!

I don't need to see violence in this instance to get a message across...I'm just not one for violent and gory movies, period.
Hope you don't think any less of me...
