but again, you are not seeing my point. the presidential succession only means something once a president has been elected, again, what if bush/cheney were to die after they won on nov5, but before the electoral college votes in mid-december? the only vote that matters is the electoral vote. if the republican ticket has died, who do they vote for?

Well... think about this Helen. Mo. governor Mel Carnahan died in a plane crash before the election and he still won. I am sure that they would vote Bush/Cheney.

A lot of words will be spoken and deeds done before the election. You'll probably hear more out of the campaigners than the candidates...just so the opportunity to make a major mistake stays at a minimum...unless the polls go lopsided, then all bets are off!

Hilary for VP? A real possibility. That gives her a forum for 2012 as President! If she passes on the VP nod, she risks not having a shot at anything in 2008.

Could be the best part of the election, the VP candidates.

How does Kerry/Clinton and Bush/Guliani sound? Maybe by nomination time.

true, but the indivdual states dont have an elctoral college. and what if they did vote for bush/cheney? a dead man cant take the oath of office, and its not official till that occurs.

Yes, and you must recall that our Honorable (?) Governor, "SpongeBob" Holden apppointed Mel's incompetently feckless wife to be the incoming Senator. Thank God, she was defeated in the next election by Jim Talent!
